《Let's Sever Our Mating Bond For Good, Alpha!》
I, Celeste Albright, was pregnant when I found out that my husband, Alpha Leo Woodville, had impregnated his former betrothed, Lady Violet Finckle. Again and again, he would choose her over me, his fated mate and his own Luna. That was it.
That made me realize that I could no longer stay at the Dark Night Pack.
While the realization was harsh, I knew deep in my heart I deserved someone better. And that person was never Leo even if he was fated to be my mate.
“Let’s severe our mating bond for good, Alpha!” I shouted at him as he begged for me to come back.
From that very moment, I learnt to find my one true happiness, especially when the Moon Goddess gave me a rare second chance.
——
I, Celeste Albright, stood by the large windows in my room as I stared out into the garden that surrounded the Dark Night Pack’s territory.
Usually, the sight would calm me down when my husband, Alpha Leo Woodville, was going somewhere to someone. After all, there was something that kept me up at night. It was a cold weight settled in my heart.
The reason for the cold weight might be because I still couldn’t comprehend what I had just heard. From what I heard, there were rumors that said from the people. Unsavory rumors about the Alpha and his former betrothed, Lady Violet Finkle.
My wolf, Elia, told me, ‘How could he betray us when we’re fated to be mate?’
Elia had been howling in anger for days, feeling angry for the supposed betrayal. People would never say it before me. Yet, I already knew about it.
Instinctively, I placed a hand over my stomach as I felt the faint stir of life within.
‘My poor baby,’ I thought to myself.
What happened inside me was supposed to make me happy. After all, I was going to be a mother, and Leo, my mate, and husband, would be a father. But happiness was far from my reach.
Then, the door creaked open behind me that stopped my train of thought.
Before that person spoke, I already knew who it was. My husband. The one who betrayed me the most.
“Celeste,” he said, his tone as cold as ever.
I didn’t turn around when he called me again, “We need to talk.”
To be honest, I found it hard to look at him even once. The thoughts of his betrayal really broke my heart. Again and again, he would choose Lady Violet over me. But this was different.
Slowly but surely, I forced myself to face him as I asked him, “Yes, Leo?”
The Alpha looked sharply at me with his green eyes when he saw my indifferent face.
“You’re not the same. Why are you avoiding me?” he asked quietly.
I almost laughed when I heard his question, so I couldn’t help but retort, “Not the same? How observant of you, Leo.”
He frowned when he heard my sarcastic remark.
His jaw tightened as he asked me, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means I’ve noticed some things, too,” I replied to him as I lifted my chin and met his gaze with steady eyes.
“Like how you’ve been spending time with Lady Violet again,” I continued.
When I mentioned Violet’s name, Leo’s face darkened. I noticed that the Alpha crossed his arms. But I knew that it was his usual gesture, defending himself when he was being accused.
“Violet and I are just … old friends,” the man said defensively as I expected.
“Old friends?” I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.
Without realizing it, I kept talking, “Leo, you promised me that she was in your past. But she’s here, in our present, more than I am. How am I supposed to feel?”
He looked away, a flicker of guilt crossing his face, but he quickly masked it as he coldly answered me, “It’s not what you think, Celeste.”
“It’s not?” I asked him again as I shook my head in disbelief while I was feeling the pain rising in my heart.
Eventually, I had enough.
“Then what is it, Leo? Because it certainly looks like an affair to me.”
Leo’s gaze turned sharp when I said that.
The Alpha quickly grabbed my wrist as he stepped closer and used his Alpha voice, “Watch your tone, Celeste. I’m your Alpha, not just your husband.”
The reminder stung. Despite the heavy pressure I had because of the Alpha voice, I was surprised to find myself unwilling to bend to his Alpha voice. Instead, there was something inside me that felt different.
‘Is this Elia?’ I thought to myself.
“And I’m your Luna, but that doesn’t seem to mean anything to you,” I eventually said.
Then, I realized that it wasn’t my wolf at all. It was my own voice. How could I do that?
After that, silence hung heavy between us. I could feel my hands shaking, so I clenched them to steady myself. That was it. I was done with this.
Meanwhile, Leo just stared at me. But I couldn’t read his eyes as they were unreadable. Then, the Alpha took a step back. Nevertheless, I could see a dismissive look crossing his face.
‘As expected, he would dismiss my feelings again,’ I told myself.
“You’re overthinking things,” he said, his voice colder than before.
He continued to talk, “Violet has been a part of my life since before you even joined this pack.”
“Yes, she is. But I’m your fated mate,” I replied, fighting to keep my voice steady.
I continued, “I thought that would mean something to you.”
However, Leo scoffed as he said mockingly, “Don’t be so dramatic, Celeste. You’re acting like I’ve betrayed you.”
“If you’re not, why can’t you reassure me, Leo?” I demanded despite my voice trembling as I tried to calm myself.
“Why can’t you just say that you’ll choose me over her when your actions in fact has shown me that you will choose her over me again and again?” I asked him again.
As I expected, the Alpha was silent. However, his silence hurt more than any words he could have said. The truth was there. And it crushed me.
“Forget it,” I whispered, turning back to the window.
“Go back to Violet if that’s what you want,” I continued as I turned my head, avoiding him as I held back my tears.
“Celeste, don’t be ridiculous. “I don’t have time for this. I have a pack to run,” he said, sounding frustrated.
“You’re right,” I replied quietly.
I continued to talk, “You do. And I have a baby to think about.”
At my words, Leo looked surprised as he repeated, “A … a baby?”
“Yes. Our baby, Leo,” I confirmed what he just repeated, placing a protective hand over my stomach.
For a while, Leo stared at me. The Alpha seemed to be stunned, but then his expression softened. When I saw that, I thought for a moment that I saw a glimmer of the man I had once loved. Unfortunately, that hope faded as quickly as it came.
“A baby,” he repeated with a hollow voice, devoid of happiness.
However, he quickly covered it by saying, “That’s … that’s wonderful news, Celeste.”
“Is it?” I asked, a bitter smile tugging at my lips.
I continued, “Because it seems like you’re more concerned with Violet than with us.”
Leo looked away, guilt flashing across his face again. I knew that. The man never said anything about it, but that silence told me everything I needed to know.
He started to talk, “Celeste, I-”
“I think it’s time for me to rest. Goodnight, Leo,” I told him as I cut him off.
Without waiting for his response, I walked to the bed and lay down on our bed that he rarely visited. At this point, I didn’t even bother to look at him. I clearly could hear him sighing, but he didn’t try to approach me or say anything else.
After a moment, I heard the door close softly, leaving me alone with the crushing weight of his betrayal. Then, I smelled something familiar that crushed me even more. Violet’s scent.
Elia was growling inside me as she said, ‘How can he betray us again and again, Celeste! He doesn’t deserve to be our fated mate!’
What Elia said rang true to my heart. I had enough. I was tired of being treated like a second fiddle when I was his Luna.
From that every moment, I knew exactly what I had to do.
‘Let’s sever our mating bond for good, Alpha,’ I told myself before I closed my eyes.
Chapter 2
Although everything felt overwhelming, I knew that I had to carry on for the sake of the little one inside me. I dragged myself to get out of my room to see the pack doctor. But I would never expect to meet that person I wished to avoid there.
Violet.
The woman was standing with some pack members, laughing at something one of them had said. But when she saw me, her expression shifted to one of smug satisfaction. In fact, I noticed that she gazed at me mockingly.
“Luna Celeste,” she greeted, dipping into a small curtsy.
“How lovely to see you this morning,” she continued.
I knew I couldn’t show how this woman ruined my marriage. The only thing I could do was to look at her calmly as I smiled politely, showing her that I was the Luna not her. But … would that be enough?
“Lady Violet. What brings you to our castle?” I asked her calmly.
“Oh, Alpha Leo invited me, of course. He thought I might enjoy the castle for my baby,” she said casually, placing her finger on her belly like me as if she was challenging me.
Elia angrily shouted inside me, ‘How dare she showed her face here!’
I felt my patience slipping, but I held myself as I said, “I see. I hope you find them pleasant.”
Violet let out a smirk as she said, “They are. Just like old times.”
I clenched my fists, feeling the anger bubbling inside me. That was it. From now on, I had to stand up for myself.
Without further ado, I approached her as I calmly said, “Old times should stay in the past, Lady Violet. Leo and I have our own future to focus on now.”
The moment I said it, I couldn’t help but notice she was insulted at what I said, but she still spoke, “Oh, of course. Though, I wonder… is Leo truly part of that future?”
“What are you trying to say?” I asked as I forced myself to stay calm.
Violet just looked at me as she continued mockingly, “Oh, nothing. It’s just that Leo and I have a connection that goes beyond … formalities. It’s only natural that we still share a bond.”
“You’re speaking of something that should no longer exist, Lady Violet. Leo chose me,” I told her as I looked at her firmly.
She laughed softly as she boldly showed off her still-flat belly to me as she asked me, “Did he, though?”
Her words struck like a dagger, which made me found myself stepping back. I knew that my composure was crumbling. In fact, it became clear to me.
Lady Violet was expecting. While she said nothing, it became clear to everyone who the father was. The truth slapped me hard.
Immediately, I could hear my wolf, Elia, was trying to take over my body. However, I knew that would be unwise. So, I held my wolf down.
Then, I let out a cold smirk as I told her face to face, “I see. But you must know, Lady Violet. You may have been his past, but I am his present and his Luna. Please respect that.”
Before the woman could respond, I continued, “I feel bad for the thing inside you. It must be horrible since it was made in a shameful way. What a way to show off, don’t you think?”
Violet’s face darkened. The woman clenched her teeth as she turned her head down and excused herself. That was it. I no longer cared what Leo would say to me.
I watched her walk away, but I didn’t feel that I won at all. What she had said to me stayed with me instead. They echoed in my mind, stirring a deep-seated fear that I could no longer ignore.
That was when I realized that I needed to find a way to protect myself, my baby, and my heart.
‘We really need to go, Elia,’ I told myself.
Later that day, I found Leo in his office. The Alpha demanded to see me immediately. Without further ado, I knew what he would talk about.
“I heard you’re making Violet cried before the other members of the pack,” the man said when I arrived before him.
“I need you to tell Violet to respect boundaries. She’s been acting… bold, Leo. It’s not right,” I calmly told him, choosing my words carefully.
Leo’s eyes narrowed as he dismissively said, “You’re reading too much into things, Celeste.”
I took a deep breath, trying to stay calm, as I asked him, “Am I? She disrespects me every chance she gets and it’s hurting us. I need to know you understand that.”
The Alpha’s gaze turned cold as he defensively said, “Celeste, Violet is an important part of this pack.”
“Important enough to humiliate your Luna? Important enough to … make her pregnant?” I asked her, my voice rising before I could stop it.
He stood up when I mentioned about the pregnancy. I could no longer stand by it. But I would never expect what my fated mate would do to me.
“Enough, Celeste. You’re making a scene!” he shouted angrily.
I felt a flash of anger from him. Before I could respond, he took a step closer. When I saw him, his eyes were flashing with authority.
When the Alpha spoke again, his voice held the commanding tone of the Alpha. A tone that sent a shiver through any wolf, including me. It really broke my heart.
‘How dare you use your Alpha voice to us!’ Elia protested as she growled angrily inside of me.
“Apologize to Violet. Now,” he commanded with his firm Alpha voice.
I clenched my fists as I felt the pressure of his Alpha voice bearing down on me. Just when I thought that I would give in, there was something inside of me that refused to bow down. In fact, it managed to overwhelm the pressure of the Alpha’s voice.
With all of my strength, I braced myself to utter something my fated mate would never expect, “No, Leo. I will not apologize to her.”
He stared at me, shock flickering across his face as I refused to obey his Alpha voice. This time was different. I refused to yield to him, so I kept my gaze steady.
“You may be the Alpha. But I am still your mate. I deserve respect,” I said weakly with my voice barely a whisper.
Leo’s face darkened when I said that. In fact, I could see the anger simmering beneath his expression. Nevertheless, he said nothing.
Eventually, the Alpha turned away from me. A dismissive gesture that stung more than any words he could have said. But what happened earlier had me made up my mind.
‘We have to leave the pack to sever the mated bond,’ I told Elia who howled wholeheartedly.
However, I knew that there was doubts inside of me. Then, I heard Elia.
‘We must let go of the past to get a better future, Celeste,’ Elia told me.
That was what finally convinced me to leave this pack as soon as possible.
Tonight was the night I planned to leave the pack. As I sat by the edge of the bed, I ran my fingers along the thin gold ring on my ring finger. Leo gave it to me when we first discovered we were fated mates. This ring was a token of his promise and my hope.
But the right felt more like a weight more than ever. The ring became a reminder of dreams that had faded long ago. It became clear to me then.
No matter what would happen, I would sever the mating bond. For years, I had held onto the hope that Leo might remember his promises and put our future above the past. But that was gone for good after our last meeting. So, I knew what I would do.
While I clearly knew that I wanted to sever my bond, I needed to go back to my original pack, the Ivory Fang Pack. From my pack, I could summon the Moon Priestess safely. After all, she was the only one who had the power to safely break the connection between mates without causing harm.
Not to mention, the ritual was delicate. It had to be done under the light of the full moon when both participants would feel safe. Since I no longer felt safe, I made up my mind to go back to my original pack. So, this might be the only chance to do it.
As I slipped out the back door, I cast one last glance at the pack house. Memories flooded my mind. The day we found out that we were fated mates, our wedding day, the promises, the dreams we had once shared.
But those dreams had long since withered and I couldn’t let them hold me back any longer.
I put out a ring that had binded me to him for years and left a letter addressed to him.
[Dear Leo,
If you read this letter, I’m already gone for good. I hope you and Lady Violet find the happiness you’ve been looking for. I’m tired of seeing you choose her over me over and over again. I deserve someone better even if we’re fated to be mates.
Goodbye, Leo. I hope to never see you again.
Celeste, your abandoned Luna]
With my suitcase in hand, I walked out of the bedroom, the door clicking softly behind me. I didn’t feel regret or guilt—just the weight of a decision that should have been made a long time ago.
It was time to leave, and this time, there would be no coming back.
