Loving The Heartless Alpha Who Neglects Me

Loving The Heartless Alpha Who Neglects Me

CHAPTER 01: The Neglected Luna

I am now almost nine months pregnant.

Then one day, I suddenly received a package with photos and proof of purchase of my mate—not for me but for another woman!

Trevor, my fated Alpha, had been sending $30,000 to the same woman every month without fail; the first payment was made around the time we lost our first child, two years ago.

I felt a strange sense of calmness, almost unnatural. How could he do this to me? I couldn't take it anymore! I have to leave now!

With a little spark of hope inside me, I called Alpha Jayden to make a move and put an end to this suffering.

"Please, I need a favor... I want to transfer to the Sapphire Pack."

——

Zariyah’s POV

"HE'S CHEATING..."

Those were the first words that came out of my mouth as I looked at the evidence in my hand. The moonlight came in through the thick curtains of the Redstone Pack mansion as I sat in my dark bedroom and stared at the package I had gotten that afternoon but hadn't opened yet. It hung over me like a storm cloud and felt like a heavy weight on my chest.

Something didn't seem right about it, but I was very interested all evening. As I unwrapped the package, my heart pounded harder with every layer I tore away. When the contents were finally revealed, I froze, the air rushing out of my lungs.

"O-Oh my god..." I blurted out.

Photographs spilled out onto the bed—images of Trevor, my alpha, my mate, and Marina, his childhood sweetheart. They were too close and sweet in all of the pictures. My stomach turned as I observed how intimately he stared at her, his hand touching her rising tummy. My thoughts screamed for it to be a mistake, a cruel prank, but the evidence was clear.

Beneath the photos were documents: receipts for gifts—gold, silver, and lavish items—all given to Marina. My hands trembled as I traced the ink on the page. The betrayal was sharper than any dagger.

"H-How could he?" My wolf, Elisia, growled within me, her voice a mix of rage and pain. She had been restless for weeks, warning me, but I had ignored her.

"Elisia..."

“You’re a fool,” she snarled. “You should have fought harder for him, for us.”

Tears pooled in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I'd battled. I had given everything to this relationship with Trevor. But it was evident now that he had already forgotten and abandoned me in favor of her.

I held my tummy, my fingers quivering as I felt the little lump. "It's just us now," I said quietly, trying to keep my voice calm. "We'll be fine, little baby. I promise."

The baby was the only thing keeping me from falling apart entirely. My pup, my tiny beacon of hope, deserved better than this.

Hours appeared to pass as I sat there, buried in different emotions. The door creaked open, and Trevor stepped in, his presence filling the room like a thundercloud. His stare was piercing, and his demeanor was guarded.

"You’re still awake," he said, his tone neutral, almost dismissive.

I stood, clutching the photographs in my hand. "Y-You're late..." I began, my voice shaking but I tried to make a strong stance. I tried to hide the photos behind my back. I sighed deeper as I kept myself calm.

"What's the matter?" he asked coldly.

"Nothing..."

His eyebrows raised. "Are you sure?"

I cleared my throat. "I noticed changes to you... I don't like it."

I saw him lightly rolled his eyes as if he was so done with me. He made me feel like my concern was nothing. "Stop overthinking things."

"I-I am not!" I snapped, my anger finally boiling over. "You are not giving enough time to me and to our child. You are acting coldly and not spending time with me!" My voice cracked, and I had to force myself to continue.

"Zariyah..."

"What? Are you having a good time with Marina, huh?" I snapped. I saw how his expression changed when I mentioned Marina. I felt like my heart was being stabbed. "You are spending too much time with her that you forgot about me."

"It’s not what it looks like," he growled, running a hand through his hair.

"Then tell me what it is!" I shot back.

Trevor’s jaw clenched, and his eyes flashed with frustration. "You’re being paranoid, Zariyah. Marina and I go way back. She needed help, and I gave it to her. That’s all!"

"Are you kidding me?" I scoffed. "This doesn’t look like help, Trevor. It looks like betrayal!"

He slammed his fist on the dresser, making me flinch. "I don’t have time for this. You’re overreacting, as usual."

My chest tightened as his words struck like a whip. "Overreacting? You’ve been distant for weeks, barely looking at me, barely touching me, and now this? How do you expect me to feel?"

"You don’t understand," he muttered, his tone softer but no less dismissive.

"I really don't."

"This is exhausting."

"Make me understand," I pleaded, tears finally spilling over.

Instead of responding, Trevor turned on his heel and walked out, leaving me alone in the oppressive stillness of our room. I collapsed onto the bed, my body quivering under the weight of everything. He didn't care. No matter how hard I pleaded or tried, Trevor refused to fight for us.

"He changes..." Elisia spoke. My wolf whimpered, retreating into the depths of my mind. Her anger had burned out, leaving only sorrow in its wake. "We deserve better than this..."

And for the first time, I agreed.

I wiped my tears and reached for my phone. My fingers hovered over the screen for a moment before I dialed the number I never thought I’d call again. The line rang twice before a familiar voice answered.

"Zariyah?" Alpha Jarred’s deep voice was tinged with surprise.

"Alpha Jarred,” I began, my voice steady despite the storm raging inside me. "I called because I need a favor..."

There was a pause on the other end, then a soft sigh."It's been a long time since you called, Zari. What is the favor you need?"

I glanced at the photos scattered across the bed, at the hollow emptiness of the room that was supposed to be my sanctuary. "Alpha Jarred... I..."

"What is it? Tell me, I am more than happy to help you with all I can."

For the first time that night, I felt a small spark of hope. It wasn’t much, but it was enough. Enough to start over, enough to fight for a better future for me and my baby. My voice cracked and my grip on the cellphone tightened as I said my request to him.

"Please, I want to transfer to the Sapphire Pack."

CHAPTER 02: Breaking The Bond

Zariyah’s POV

"IMPORTANT MEETING TONIGHT. I'LL BE LATE."

The ache in my chest had become a constant companion, but today, it felt unbearable. Trevor's distance had grown into a chasm, and every attempt I made to reach him was met with cold indifference. I have tried to mindlink him to contact him. But he's not letting me communicate with him. Last night, he sent me a short message:

"Don't wait for me. You can sleep now."

I should have gotten familiar to it by now—his excuses and absence—but I hadn't. Something about this one seemed off, empty. My intuition told me that there was more to the tale.

Desperate for an explanation, I contacted Karl, Trevor's beta and secretary. His voice was reluctant when he spoke, but I prodded him for the truth.

"Luna," he said, his tone careful and considerate, "Alpha left the office at six. He said he was meeting Marina."

The words were a dagger to my heart. Marina again. The name felt like poison in my mouth. I cleared my throat and responded to him, "O-Okay... T-Thank you, Karl..."

I thanked Karl, despite my trembling voice, and hung up. The previously fractured bits of my heart had now fully shattered. How could he accomplish this? How could he continue to choose her?

I wrapped my arms around my belly, seeking solace in the life growing inside me. "It’s okay," I whispered, though the words were more for me than my pup. "I’ll take care of us."

I thought that that was all, but it became worse. I sent a text message to Trevor, encouraging him to join me in the clinic for the check-up of our baby. I have waited for hours for his reply. But when I got it, I instantly regretted sending him a message. He just sent me a call text that broke my heart.

"I have an important matter to attend to. You can ask your mom to come with you for now."

That was his only reply. Does he even care about me and his child?

The pain was too much to bear alone. I needed someone to lean on, someone who cared. My fingers hovered over my phone before I dialed my mother’s number.

"Zariyah?" she answered, her voice immediately laced with concern.

"Mom," I said, my voice breaking, "Can you come with me to my appointment tomorrow? Trevor… He won’t be there."

"Of course, sweetheart," she replied without hesitation. "I’ll be there for you. Always."

Her warmth and support were the balm I needed, even if it couldn’t heal the wound.

"Thank you, mom."

...

The next morning, my mother held my hand as we entered the Redstone Pack’s clinic. The doctor greeted us warmly, but the absence of my mate hung heavy in the room. He had sent a curt message: “Can’t make it. Busy.”

Busy. That word felt like a slap. Was he too busy to care about our pup? Too busy to show even the slightest bit of interest in the life we had created together?

The physician spoke with kindness as she reviewed the data, reassuring me that the infant was well. Despite my desire to experience pleasure, I was overwhelmed by the burden of Trevor's absence.

When the appointment was over, my mom hugged me tightly. "You’re strong, Zariyah," she said. "You’ll get through this."

I nodded, though I wasn’t sure I believed her.

As we went out of the clinic, I was taken aback by what I saw. Trevor and Marina stood across the street together. She was sprawled over him, arms over his neck, and he did not push her away. Instead, he embraced her as if she were the center of his universe.

Time seemed to stand still as I observed them. My heart twisted horribly, and my wolf howled mournfully inside me.

“Enough,” she growled, her voice trembling with both sorrow and anger. “W-We deserve better than this.”

I turned away, my vision blurred by tears. My mother followed silently, her hand on my shoulder as if sensing the storm inside me.

That night, I sat alone in our chamber, staring at the empty side of the bed that Trevor should have occupied. My mind raced, replaying every moment, every betrayal, until one thought solidified in my mind: I couldn’t do this anymore.

Reaching for my phone, I dialed Elder Tommy’s number. He was one of the oldest and most respected members of the Redstone Pack, known for his wisdom and fairness.

"Luna Zariyah," he greeted after a few rings, his voice calm and steady.

"Elder," I began, swallowing the lump in my throat. "I need your help."

"Of course," he said. "How can I help you?"

I hesitated for a moment, then said words that would change everything. "I want the bond between Trevor and me broken."

There was silence on the other end, then a deep sigh. "W-What? Do you even know what you are saying, Luna?"

"I am," I replied, my voice firmer than I expected. "I want this misery to end. Being with him is a mistake..."

Elder Tommy’s tone was somber. "Very well. I will arrange a time for the ritual. But Zariyah, breaking a mate bond is not only painful but it is also permanent."

"I understand," I said softly. "And I’m ready."

As our conversation almost concluded, I felt a peculiar sensation of serenity sweeping over me. The anguish was still there, intense and raw, but below it was something new: a final decision.

I refused to let Trevor's treachery define me. I refused to let his negligence break me. For my puppy and for myself, I would fight for a fresh start.

Before I ended the call, I said important words to him with finality in my tone.

“Please arrange the breaking of my bond with Alpha Trevor. Make it as soon as possible.”

CHAPTER 03: More Reasons to Leave

Zariyah's POV

I DON'T HAVE MORE REASONS TO STAY.

My mother's embrace left me feeling warm long after she had departed. My mom had always been my anchor, the constant force that kept me together when my world threatened to disintegrate. Her presence the day before had provided relief to my wounded heart.

“You’re stronger than you realize,” she’d said, her eyes filled with pride as she caressed my cheek. “This baby is lucky to have you.”

“I don't know if I still can stay here, mom,” I cried.

She caressed my face. “You're a Luna. Show them how strong you are.”

Her words echoed in my thoughts as I watched her go, returning to her pack and promising to return a week before my due date. For a brief time, I felt lighter, as if her belief in me had sparked a glimmer of hope.

The following morning, I dressed carefully, putting on a soft, flowing gown that highlighted my growing tummy. Today was a special day—a Redstone Pack custom.

When the Luna is pregnant, she usually hosts a meeting of the pack's ladies. It was supposed to be a celebration, a time of togetherness, but I couldn't get rid of the dread in my chest. The next morning, I dressed carefully, donning a soft, flowing gown that framed my growing belly. Today was an important day—a tradition in the Redstone Pack.

“Greetings to the Luna.”

When the Luna is expecting, it is customary to host a gathering with the women of the pack. It was meant to be a celebration, a moment of unity, but I couldn’t shake the unease in my chest.

Beautiful flowers and delicate lighting adorned the little venue. The ladies came in groups, congratulating one other and sharing their maternity experiences. Despite my lack of grace, I tried my best to seem kind by smiling and nodding.

Then, Marina arrived.

“Greetings, Luna Zariyah.”

She walked in, her demeanour as confident as ever, and the room appeared to quiet. She welcomed the other ladies with confidence, wearing a tight outfit that highlighted her form. In my head, my wolf let out a low growl, reminding me of the tension that had been building between us for months.

Marina made her way to me, her smile as sweet as poison. “Luna,” she said, her tone dripping with false sincerity. “Congratulations. How wonderful it must be to have the pack celebrate you.”

I straightened my posture, refusing to let her see the pain she caused. “It is,” I replied coolly. “After all, I am the Luna, the rightful mate of our Alpha.”

Her smile faltered, and I saw a flicker of annoyance in her eyes. “Of course,” she said, her voice tight. “Though I wonder how you manage with him being so… busy.”

The jab hit its mark, but I refused to let her win. “Trevor may be busy,” I said, my voice firm, “but that doesn’t change who I am. I am his wife, his mate, and the Luna of this pack. That will never change, no matter how much you wish it would.”

The tension in the room was palpable as the other women shifted uncomfortably. Marina’s expression hardened, and I knew she was about to lash out.

“You think you're untouchable, don't you?” she hissed, stepping closer.

I smiled sweetly. “Well, that's what you will feel if you are a Luna...”

I looked at her from head to toe. My eyes were stuck to her growing tummy.

I smirked and added, “Something you will never feel.”

I can see how she suddenly turned red because of the embarrassment. The other women of the pack started to make noises and murmuring.

She gritted her teeth and said. “Well, being Luna is all you got. I bet the Alpha wouldn't even dare to glance at you—”

The small venue completely went silent as they witnessed me slapping Marina.

Tears pooled in Marina's eyes. “Y-You...”

“You're disrespectful to your Luna!” I yelled at her.

But before she could say more, Trevor walked in.

His piercing eyes darted between us, commanding the room. Marina's attitude changed abruptly. She covered her face as if she were about to cry, and her lips quivered.

“Trevor,” she said, her voice quivering, “I didn’t mean to upset her. I was only trying to be kind, but she…” Her voice broke, and she sobbed softly.

I felt like I was struck in the chest by the treachery. Marina was an expert manipulator, and Trevor was duped by her as usual.

“Zariyah,” he replied firmly, irritation in his voice. "What's happening here?"

My pulse was racing with rage as I stared at him. "How about you ask her?" Unable to control my resentment, I lost my temper and snapped.

Marina flashed her crocodile's tears to Trevor. “Alpha Trevor, believe me. I will never dare to hurt or disrespect the Luna.”

Trevor coldly looked at me.

“How dare you slap her? She’s crying because of you,” he said, his tone cold. “Apologize to her.”

The demand was a slap in the face. “You want me to apologize?” I said, my voice rising. “To her? After everything she’s done?”

“Zariyah,” he warned, his eyes narrowing.

I firmly answered, “No, Trevor,” and moved in closer.

“Zariyah! Stop being immature!” he spat.

“No, you stop! I'm tired of going out of my way to please you when you consistently betray me. Your mate is me. I am carrying your kid. But, you consistently choose her. You are not worthy of my apologies!”

The tension was so intense that a knife could pierce the room's silence. Despite clenching his jaw, Trevor remained silent.

With my heart pounding and tears on the verge of spilling, I turned and walked out of the hall.

“Zariyah! Come back here.”

I shook my head.

No, I am done. He just gave me more reasons to leave.

CHAPTER 04: Goodbye

Zariyah's POV

“HE'S NOT THE ALPHA I USED TO LOVE.”

That was my wolf said to me. Yes, he is not the same anymore. My steps were solid but heavy with the weight of my choice as I left the pack house, the freezing night air biting my skin.

I discovered clarity in the breaking of my heart, which was no longer conflicted. I had given Trevor and us everything, but today I saw that nothing I did would ever be sufficient.

“Let's leave as soon as possible,” my wolf said.

I nodded. “Yes.”

The image of him holding Marina, his eyes filled with a tenderness he hadn’t shown me in months, was burned into my mind. It wasn’t just the betrayal—it was the realization that I had been fighting alone, clinging to a bond he had already let go of.

When I reached the mansion, I didn’t hesitate. I went straight to our room, the one that had once been my sanctuary but now felt like a hollow shell.

“This is for the better, Zariyah. We don't deserve this. Let's leave him...” my wolf said.

I sighed deeply. “I really do love him. But you are right.”

I took out a bag and started packing, folding my things with shaking hands. I couldn't stop, even though everything I put in the bag felt like a piece of my heart was shattering.

As I zipped up the bag, my hand instinctively went to my swollen belly. “It’s just you and me now,” I whispered, my voice quivering. “We’re going to be okay.”

I sank onto the edge of the bed, my hand gently tracing circles over my tummy. My baby kicked lightly in response, as if to reassure me.

Almost nine months pregnant. But here we are...

“Everything will be alright.”

A tear slid down my cheek, but I quickly wiped it away. This wasn’t the life I had envisioned for us, but I would do everything in my power to make sure my child was loved and cared for.

Elder Tommy’s home was quiet when I arrived, the warm glow of candlelight spilling through the windows. I knocked softly, and within moments, the door creaked open.

“Luna Zariyah,” Elder Tommy greeted, his wise eyes scanning my face. “I had a feeling you’d come tonight.”

“Please,” I said, my voice steady despite the storm raging within me. “I need the papers to break our bond. I can’t stay tied to him any longer.”

He studied me for a moment, then nodded solemnly. “Come in.”

The ritual to sever a mate bond was rare and irreversible. It wasn’t a decision I had made lightly, but as Elder Tommy explained the process, I felt no doubt. The love I had for Trevor would always remain, but it wasn’t enough to endure the pain of his neglect and betrayal.

When the papers were in my hands, I hesitated for only a moment before signing them. Each stroke of the pen felt like a wound, but also like a release.

“It will take effect immediately as soon as the Alpha signs it,” Elder Tommy said gently. “You’ll feel the bond break. It will hurt, but it will also free you.”

I nodded as I walked out of his house, holding the documents carefully. Even though the agony in my chest was excruciating, I told myself it would only last a little while.

The silence was haunting me back at home. The house where I had once dreamed of a happy family seemed chilly and empty.

I smiled bitterly at myself. “I guess, this is a goodbye.”

I sat at our room's desk and gazed at a blank sheet of paper. I knew I had to keep things simple, but there was so much I wanted to say to Trevor and so much I wanted him to understand.

I folded the letter carefully and left it on the desk where I knew he would see it. With a final glance around the room, I picked up my bag and walked out.

Dearest Trevor,

I love you. I have always loved you, and I always will. But love isn’t enough when it’s one-sided. I’ve fought for us, for our bond, for our family. But tonight, I realized that I can’t fight alone anymore. I deserve more, and so does our child.

I’m letting you go. I hope one day you’ll find happiness, even if it’s not with me.

Goodbye, Trevor. My dearest alpha.

Your Neglected Luna,

Zariyah

I grabbed my suitcase and went to the airport. I turned off my phone before the plane took off.

It's over now. It's time for me to leave and say goodbye. And this time... There's no turning back.

Welcome!
