Because of a phone call, Andrew left my mother on the highway. She was hit by a speeding car and died on the spot.

I called him, but he hung up the phone again and again.

The next day, his friend posted a photo of his profile. [As long as I call you, you will fly to my side the first time. Happiness is that simple.]

Everyone was waiting for a response from me, Andrew's girlfriend.

I wiped my tears and replied: [Congratulations. I hope you and him will have a son soon.]

I didn't expect that I would be the first to say this.

I had a crush on Andrew for a year and pursued him for three years.We were finally together.I should praise and accommodate him.Why I possibly break up with him?

Even if he left me again and again for Katie,I would not make a fuss.

Because I liked him,he could do whatever he wanted to me,But he hurt my mom.

She was my only relative and my bottom line.

I handled my mother's funeral arrangements silently by myself.

I went back home,packed my luggage and was about to leave when I ran into Andrew Wallace and Katie Foster who had just returned.

Katie leaned in his arms.When they saw me,Andrew had no intention of letting her go.

Even when he caught a glimpse of the luggage in my hands,he just frowned in displeasure."Monica,what are you doing?"

He always thought I was making a fuss.

Whenever it came to Katie's affairs,if I showed any dissatisfaction,he would scold me,as if I had committed a huge mistake.

He told me that I was heartless and that he only treated Katie as a friend and asked me not to act unreasonably.

Katie saw that I didn't look very happy and couldn't help but smile."Monica,don't get me wrong.I caught a cold a few days ago.Andrew was worried about me and took care of me for a few days.You must not quarrel because of me."

So just because she had a cold,Andrew left my mother,Sarah,on the highway and ran to take care of Katie without even looking back.

I knew that Katie was more important to him than me.

But Sarah was dead.

Every time I thought about Sarah's disfigured face when I picked up her body at the hospital,it hurt.

I suddenly felt so tired.I didn't have the energy to argue with them anymore.I just wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.

"Andrew,let's break up!"

I didn't expect that my relationship would involve Sarah.

Andrew's eyes flashed with annoyance."Monica,can you be more sensible?You know that Katie is in poor health.I am her friend.Isn't it my duty to take care of her?"

I didn't know what else I need to do to be considered sensible.

Because Andrew said that Katie was his important friend and she suffered from a rare disease,so she occupied all his thoughts.

Katie was right about one thing.As long as she called,Andrew would fly to her side as soon as possible no matter where he was.

He set Katie as his special focus and always replied to her messages as soon as possible.

He would reply to my messages if he wanted to,and would just leave me alone if he didn't want to.Sometimes,after I sent him too many messages,he got tired of it and put me on the blacklist.

As for when to talk to me,it depended on his mood.

He remembered Katie's birthday and even her special time every month.

Once Katie was playing with her friends in the countryside,There were no shops nearby and it was a rainstorm day.

Andrew was unable to spare the time,so he asked me to deliver the things Katie needed.

The car suddenly stalled halfway through the journey.I had to walk for a few miles,getting soaked.

Katie took the things and sent me away.

I could only stay in the car all night.

What Andrew didn't know was that that day was also my special day every month.

I turned pale with pain and finally fainted in the car.I was not found until the next day by a passerby and taken to the hospital.

I was sick for a week that time.

After Andrew found out,he just said a few words of concern.

Every time Katie fainted due to an attack,he would be anxious as if the world was coming to an end,and would even personally stay with her in the hospital.

He thought Katie was precious and fragile,and needed his care.

I was leaving with my luggage.

Andrew finally noticed that something was wrong with me and stopped me.

"What's wrong with you?Is Sarah dissatisfied with what happened that day?When Katie gets better,I will go explain to Sarah."

It didn't make sense anymore.

I pried his hand away."No need!"

Katie pouted and rolled her eyes impatiently."Andrew,why explain?They are just making a fuss out of nothing.Sarah is so good at making trouble.I think they are just trying to control you on purpose.Don't be fooled."

I was shocked.

Originally,I didn't want to hold a grudge against Katie,even though she and Andrew were both indirect murderers of Sarah.

But Sarah was dead.Katie was still saying bad things about Sarah.

I was provoked that I completely lost my mind.By the time I reacted,I had already slapped Katie in the face.

As it happened suddenly,Andrew and Katie had no time to react.

Katie was stunned,then she cried."Andrew,I've never been hit in my whole life.Please help me."

Andrew's expression suddenly turned gloomy."Monica,apologize!"

I was not frightened by him,and said obstinately,"Unless she apologizes to my mom first!"

Katie cried even harder after hearing this."Andrew,look.What did I say wrong just now?If you hadn't begged Andrew that day,he would never have gone to pick up your mother.You should blame yourself for this."

It was indeed me who asked Andrew to go that day.

Sarah came from her hometown just to see how I was doing here and to see my boyfriend whom I often mentioned on the phone.

In order to reassure her,and also out of selfish reasons I wanted her to meet Andrew,I begged him for a long time before he agreed to go to the airport with me.

But as soon as I arrived at the airport,I received a call from my leader saying that something had happened at work and asked me to go back to deal with it.

But I never thought that Andrew would abandon her on the highway halfway.

Andrew gave me a warning glare when he saw how stubborn I was."Monica,don't make me repeat myself!.Apologize to Katie."

I refused to admit my mistake."What if I don't?"

Andrew sneered,"Then don't apologize!"

Before I could understand what he meant,Andrew raised his hand and slapped me.

My face was hurt,but my heart hurt more.

This was the first time Andrew hit me.

"You slapped Katie,so I slapped you.We're even!"

I tilted my head and just happened to see Katie's smug look.

For Katie,I wouldn't be surprised no matter what he did.

I just looked at him calmly."Then can I go?"

Andrew was irritated by my attitude.

He said coldly,"Monica,I gave you a chance.I was thinking of going with you to meet your mother in a few days,but now it seems unnecessary."

I had bottled up all day's emotions,and now they burst out.

I collapsed and yelled at him,"Andrew,Sarah is dead!"

Andrew was stunned.

Then,as if hearing a joke,he said,"What nonsense are you talking about,Monica?You should choose your words carefully."

Andrew's words could make me feel like I was falling into an icy cave.

When I looked at him before,my eyes were full of love,but now there was only numbness and disappointment.

Katie could make him give up everything with just one sentence,and no matter how much I say,it would be meaningless to him.

I should have known that.

Katie even sneered with disdain,"Yes,Monica.Even if you are angry with Andrew,you can't curse your mother like this."

No one wanted this to be false more than I did.

I would give anything to bring Sarah back to life.

Perhaps seeing that I looked unhappy,Andrew explained to me for the first time,"After I left that day,I asked Tom to pick her up and put her up in a hotel owned by my family.How could anything happen to Sarah?"

Andrew did ask the driver to pick up Sarah.

But when the driver,Tom,arrived,Sarah had already had an accident.

The accident site was only a few hundred feet away from the service area.

If he had any conscience,this would not have happened if he had left Sarah in the service area.

I didn't want to talk much with him.

But Andrew held me.

He took out his cell phone."I'll call Tom right now.If you lied to me,you know the consequences."

I didn't care anymore!

He thought he had won and turned on the speakerphone."Tom,is the person you asked to pick up that day still in the hotel?Let her answer the phone."

Tom was stunned for a moment.

It took him a while to realize that he was talking about Sarah.He sighed and said,"Mr.Wallace,when I arrived,Ms.Turner's mother had already been in a car accident.Although she was taken to the hospital,unfortunately she couldn't be saved in the end.I wanted to tell you,but your call was not connected..."
