Breaking The Bond, I Avenged The Unfaithful Mate
Falling in the sea, when I was struggling to breathe, my Alpha was busy saving the sweet Omega from our pack. I saw him swim to her and pull her out while I could barely stay conscious.
Even after coming home, I discovered them in bed and decided to end it.
“Ethan, let’s divorce.”

When I woke up, I was in the hospital bed, weak and pale. Steven, an Elder of our pack, entered along with Ryan, my assistant.
“Are you alright now?” Steven asked, looking away from me, trying to hide a crucial matter.
Reading his gaze, I already knew that Ethan didn't come here at all. Well, I was not surprised anymore.
“I’m alright. When can I be discharged?” I asked, fluttering my fragile lashes.
“Tomorrow.” He muttered, “I will ask Alpha Ethan to pick you up.”
“No need.” This was the last sentence that came from my mouth before I dozed off.
When I woke up, Ethan was there, impatient and frowning.
“So, you finally stop pretending.” He ran his hands through his hair, his expression was clear that he ran out of patience, “Was it fun to lie down the bed and act vulnerable?”
“What do you mean?” The man I loved for seven years, the man who vowed to protect me all his life, was now thinking I pretended to feel sick. I should be hurt but guess what? I felt nothing.
I was already used to it since his ex fiance showed up in his office as a worker. He spent most of his time with her and exposed his frustration for me openly.
My flat tone angered him more.
“Genelia, you even have the cheek to ask!” He stood up, holding my wrist, as if he could have hit me if it was not me, “Why did you push Lili into the sea? She is still a little girl. Why are you so jealous?”
‘I pushed her!’ I stared at him in disbelief not uttering a single word. It was obvious that Lili jumped to save her earring.
I opened my mouth to explain but since he concluded it already, it was not going to change.
“Whatever you think.” I yanked my hand away from him and leaned back, “Ethan, you don't have to pick me up. I can go back on my own.”
“Huh! As if you do it.” He sneered, “If you are so capable, then why did you force Steven to come here? Genelia, just drop your act.”
He gritted his teeth, scattering his vine scent, he left.
Looking at him, I felt the lump of pain again.
_ _
The next day, Ethan sent me a message to wait for him. He would come back after a meeting.
I waited until it was late at midnight. Scrolling my phone, I found Lilith’s Kui Post:
[Find someone who makes you feel number one!]
Lilith was standing next to Ethan holding cotton candy. The picture was taken at the Aquarium.
Smirking, I liked the photo. I packed my things and got out of the hospital. Halfway, Ethan caught up with me. The same irritation appeared.
“Genelia, are you running away again?” Ethan groaned.
“Nah, since you are busy, I didn't bother you.” I mumbled, not arguing anymore.
“Get on fast.” He opened the car door, “Lili was unhappy, so I accompanied her. She is still a child and has no one, so I should do it.”
“Yeah, good.” I was about to enter the passenger seat but discovered Lilith's eyeshadow palette on the seat and switched to the back seat.
“Why are you sitting on the back?” Ethan proceeded to scold me again, thinking it was my new drama.
“Ethan, I'm not just trying to be rude sitting on someone's mate's seat.” I said nonchalantly, checking my messages if I missed something.
“What?” Ethan almost shouted.
“Can't you see the eyeshadow palette.” I pointed at the box, “It's already occupying its owner territory.”
“What are you trying to imply?” He broozed in anger, “Genelia, it's not Lili’s. She’s naturally beautiful, not a makeup doll like you.”
I laughed. All these years, I dolled myself up in front of Ethan because of his cleanfreakness. I recalled how he reacted when he found a single strand of hair on my dress.
“Ew, it's disgusting.” He made a face as if someone puked on him. Since then whenever I showed up in front of him, I tried my best to look neat but now I was a ‘makeup doll’.
Huh! I didn't bother to say anymore. Ethan's phone buzzed, indicating Lilith's number,
“Ethan” she was not talking formally with him anymore, “Can you bring back my eyeshadow palette? It's my favourite.”
She was crying like a child who couldn't get her candy.
Ethan looked at me, guilt washed over his face.
“It's yours.” His voice was dim, “Okay. I will bring this to you. Genelia is with me too.”
His gentle affectionate tone jabbed my heart like a dragger, recalling the eighteen years old Genelia’s memories of those who fell for the same tone.
“That's great. Bring Genelia too.” She almost clapped in joy, “I want to treat you both.”
“No thanks.” I finally said, “Doctor asked me to eat light foods.”
Saying so, I abruptly came outside of the car, scooping near the window, I said, “Ethan, you go to her. I can handle it alone.”
Hailing a cab, I left ignoring Ethan's screams and scolds when he asked me to come back.
While in the cab, I found Ethan's chat app’s moments only filled with his and Lilith’s pictures. He was smiling beautifully at her almost in every picture.
With a dry laughter, I unfriended him and archived his moments.
Chapter 2
The next evening, I finally finished my pending work and came back home almost exhausted. I was planning to get some sleep. But nature played a joke on me. When I entered our bedroom, I felt nauseous with the disgusting smell of Vanilla and Peach scent. I encountered Lilith and Ethan hugging each other closely, whereas Lilith's hair was messy and she was covered with a blanket in our bed where Ethan and I had been sleeping since our marriage. Their scent was so heavy that they almost suffocated me.
For a moment, the world shattered around me. Widening my eyes, I screamed.
“Ethan!” I rushed to him, holding his collar and making him come out of the bed.
“So you finally crossed the line?” I pushed him into a wall and screamed my heart out.
Before I reacted more, Ethan held my hand taking the charge.
“Genelia, are you paranoid or what?” Ethan’s wolf growled, “Can't you see that Lilith is feverish. I am just comforting her.”
“You are comforting her by hugging? Even in our bedroom and our bed” I really wanted to get the hook, “Ethan, did you notice how smelly the room is? !”
“Genelia! Shut the fuck up!” Ethan raised his hand to slap me but it stopped midway, realising he had gone overboard, Ethan bit his lips, “Gene…Genelia, be sober. You have gone crazy.”
Even though his voice was still cold, the aggressiveness subsided.
Meanwhile, I…was too exhausted to react.
“Genelia, don't blame Ethan.” Taking the chance of our silence, Lilith said, feigning her innocence, “It’s me who gets sick while swimming. Ethan was just making me feel good.”
The same story everyday! I stumbled back manytimes but now they were just tales to me.
“Okay. Do whatever you want.” I waved my hands away. There was nothing I could do aside from leaving. I didn't know this Ethan anymore nor did he love me.
“It's all my fault! Genelia, I know you don't like me but please don't argue for me.” Falling on the floor, Lilith sobbed her lungs out. She should be awarded as the best actress. Squinting my nose, I just wanted to leave but Ethan grabbed my wrist, hissing in anger, “Genelia, apologise to Lilith for making her uncomfortable.”
I frowned, it was alright for her to hug my husband in our bedroom but I had to apologise for voicing it out. My wolf couldn't hold back her fang anymore.
“Ethan, I won't apologise.” I chewed those words, “I didn't do anything wrong.”
He narrowed his eyes, almost wanting to hit me, “Genelia, don't make me angry.”
I cursed him, intending to snatch my hand away but Ethan gripped it tighter.
“Say whatever but you can't leave until you apologise.” He hissed.
“Well, don't make things ugly.” Lilith uttered with her sugar-coated voice, the smirk underneath her masked face mocked me several times, “Genelia, you don't have to apologise. How about you make me some dumplings, I am craving it now.”
She let out the most innocent smile, hiding her venomous nature.
Ethan's gaze immediately softened when he pinched her nose softly, “You little fairy, always let go of others easily.”
She clinging to him. I watched them with an unbothered expression. But the moment Ethan averted his gaze to me again, it was stone cold.
“Go make it.” He wrapped his hands around her waist, making her sit on the bed “You are free anyway.”
“Okay.” Looking at him indifferently, I made my way to the kitchen before stopping for the last time, “Do you want something else?”
I didn't turn my back.
“No,” She was almost bouncing in joy.
‘This is the last time I will make this for you.’ I thought about the day when Ethan saved me from the foreign wolf pack.
I was grateful to him for taking the blow for me. He was bedridden almost two months. Due to that, his wolf spirit was weak and Lilith left him. During the time I took care of the hurt, depressed Ethan, made him strong physically and mentally. We fell in love and got married shortly after he regained his reputation. Now everything was nothing but a joke. He still had Lilith in his heart.
Ethan came in the kitchen, holding my hand, he mumbled, “Genelia, Lili is still a child. Can't you just be generous and give in to her?”
I already gave her my Alpha. What else did she want?
“Okay. I will give her everything.” I no longer wanted to make scenes. Since I already decided to leave, it didn't matter what Lilith wanted.
Ethan pondered for a while before blurting out, “Do you need help?”
“No, go back and accompany her.” I didn't continue focusing on my work.
I noticed Ethan leaving, looking at his back, I sighed.
After I made the dumplings and served them, I took my bag to leave.
“Genelia, please eat with us.” Lilith murmured cheerfully.
“I’m not hungry.” I dismissed, proceeding to leave.
“Let me drop you.” Ethan stood up and came forward.
Before I could respond, Lilith collapsed.
“Lili!” Ethan shoved me away. Hurting my shoulder, he rushed to her and carried her in his arms before taking her to the hospital.
My old injury spiked up, rolling in pain, my shoulder almost felt numb.
I could barely drag myself to the hospital.
“Wow! You just got discharged and managed to bring yourself here again.” The doctor scolded me, he had the obvious reason.
Since it was not a serious injury, I came back home and took a hot shower. Lying in the bed, I saw Lilith flaunting her social media again:
[Love is like the spring. Find someone who can be your flower.]
She was in the hospital, beside her, Ethan was looking at her with worried eyes.
The next moment, I received a pack of white sauce pasta. I looked at the packet, my stomach churned, almost vomiting. He might have forgotten how I couldn't have greasy food because of my gastric ulcer.
The next moment, my phone buzzed, Lilith again posted another picture of a table full of different types of pasta.
[He Knows My Favourite!! >.<]
I took the unsealed box, tossed it in the trash can.
Heading upstairs, I made a call to my assistant, Ryan.
“Luna, why are you calling me so late?” He had been with me since I was married to Ethan, the flower boy, four years younger than me.
“Ryan, do me a favour. Consult with Elder Anastasia.” I clutched the wedding dress.
“Why? All of a sudden?” His voice was anxious.
“Ryan, tell him to prepare a divorce paper.” My gaze was frosty.
Chapter 3
Ethan didn't come back for three days. When he was back, he was looking frailer than before.
“Genelia, are you going somewhere?” He looked at my suitcase.
“Yes, girl's trip.” I lied, not wanting to let him know everything right now.
“Didn't you say that you are missing your parents. How about we call them here and celebrate our anniversary?” He smiled, trying to make up.
“That's not necessary.” I interjected.
“Why?” His narrowed gaze looked for an answer from me.
“They are not in good shape.” I tidied myself up, “Don't drag them here.”
Etan opened his mouth to say something but his phone rang, “Ethan I sprained my leg.”
Lilith was crying.
“I’m coming.” Ethan quickly rushed from there, banging the door behind.
I wished to leave already but something occured in the office and held me back till Thursday. I already shifted my luggage to my apartment near the office and had been staying there.
But on Thursday night, when I was finally done and thought of living, Ethan entered my cabin.
“Let's go.” His voice was firm, releasing his scent, he made me submissive against my will.
Since it was the office, I couldn't bear to make a scene there.
“Where?” I furrowed my brows.
“You will know.” He fixed his gaze on me and trailed his hand on my hair, “Genelia, didn't you forget something?”
“No.” I flung away his hand, “Ethan don't touch me out of nowhere.”
“Genelia!” He wanted to argue but stopped abruptly, “Let's go.”
He stretched his hand to hold me but stopped midway.
“Mm.” I hummed packing my things. I was curious about what he wanted now.
At a fancy restaurant, he handed over the menu to me, “Order whatever you like.”
“Not picky. Go ahead.” My eyes glued onto my phone, lacking the overwhelming excitement I always had whenever we went out earlier.
Ethan's narrowed eyes were now squinted.
“What are you doing on the phone?” His lips pursed into a thin line.
“Nothing.” I shrugged my shoulders, and had no intention to entertain him.
Getting ignored, Ethan gritted his teeth and took my phone away from me trying to unlock it, “Since when did you change your password?”
“A few days ago.” My voice sounded flat. Until a month ago, my password was our anniversary date but now it didn't matter.
“Why?” The frustration grew inside him.
“No reason.” My eyes still didn't give away any expression.
After we ordered, I got an urgent call. I left to take it, leaving Ethan behind.
It took me a while before I came back but Ethan was nowhere to be found, rather there was a cake and a box of jewellery with a small note, “Happy Anniversary Genelia.”
“Our anniversary?” I laughed, “It passed a month ago”
Looking at the blank, I recalled how I waited for Ethan that day, but he accompanied Lilith in a concert.
Releasing my angry scent, I left.
When I came down, the soft giggling attracted my attention.
Looking at the direction, I saw Lilith was almost bouncing in Ethan's embrace. Her hands were tightly wrapped around his biceps and she was enjoying her ice cream.
Raising my eyebrows, I ignored the jab on my heart, I was more surprised.
Ethan was always a cleanfreak, he never liked to eat from someone’s tasted food.
“Ethan, have this cake, it's so sweet.”
I recalled how I baked the cake and wanted him to have a bite.
“Genelia, are you serious? You already tasted from this spoon, now you are offering it to me! You have no manners.” He lectured me a long paragraph.
Well, love was blind and couldn't be helped. Laughing I dismissed the bitter feelings in my heart.
“Ethan, you are the best.” The sweet Omega whom Pack members adored, jumped again, almost climbing on Ethan's lap, she kissed his cheek.
He looked at her dotingly.
“Silly girl.” Patting her head, he encouraged her childishness.
“Genelia!” Lilith's face dropped as soon as she saw me, “Sorry, I didn't mean to kiss him. I was too excited.”
“Little fool!” Ethan ruffled her hair, “You don't need to explain to her.”
Ethan averted his gaze, evaporating his softened gaze like the morning mist, “Genelia, have you finished talking?”
Staying silent, I entered the bar next door. When I showed my membership, Lilith scorned, tightening her jaw.
“Ethan, I want to have Martini.”
When they entered, I was still resting myself on the stool and sipping my cold wine.
Ethan’s disdainful glance made me gulp down two drinks in one go. Ignoring my presence, they booked a private room and disappeared against the crowd.
I had my fill for two hours before finally being done and smiled looking at the bartender, a handsome beta.
“You are good at this!” I winked at him.
“I’m good at other things too, wanna try?” He flirted back.
I moved away from my chair with a sly smile.
When Ethan was finally done drinking with Lilith, I was nowhere to be found. The bartender handed a note to him with his favourite whiskey, “Ethan, let’s split up.”
_ _
Standing near the orphanage, I felt nostalgic. Grandma Zoe, who took care of me since I lost my parents, pulled me in her embrace, “My child, you look thinner.”
“Grandma!” The warmth didn't let me be strong anymore. Without any care, I let the tears flow wave after wave, “I am back now.”
“Yeah, welcome home.” Seeing my already devastated state, she didn't ask me anything, patting my back sweetly, she spreaded the warm.
Once we were inside, I laid down on her lap and mumbled, “I want to start my higher studies.”
“Good child.” Ruffling my hair, she smiled, “I will transfer my savings to you.”
I got up, stunned, “No, it's okay. It's yours. I already got the scholarship.”
“Gen,” She rubbed my face, “You are one of us. Don't think of yourself as an outsider, ask for my help, alright? Don't always endure alone.”
Trembling my lips, I hugged her again. She was right. This orphanage was my home. If I didn't meet Ethan that day or fell in love, I would still be here. Getting back the warmth after a long time, I drifted into slumber, intending to have a new day, a new hope.
But the reality was something else. After a long and sound sleep, when I woke up it was already late morning and the members of the orphanage hugged me one by one. Laughing and chatting I didn't know how much time had passed while I devoured a hearty meal and warm milk to content my stomach, turning my back from the oblivious ringing on my phone. After two hours, when I checked my phone, turning off airplane mode, the series of notifications almost froze it. Looking at them, I felt dizzy. There were fifteen missed calls from Ethan and a trail of messages from a new number on the chat app.
