Reborn to Destroy My Alpha and His False Breeder

Reborn to Destroy My Alpha and His False Breeder

Chapter 1

LYRA

“You have been accused of attempted murder. How do you plead, Lyra?”

The air in the courtroom became thick when I looked into the steel blue eyes of my mate, seeing nothing but contempt.

Goddess, how did I get here?

For years, Alpha Richardson and I were happy in love, our futures bright ahead of us. Then I discovered I couldn’t bear him a pup and as Alpha, he took on a breeder to continue his legacy…without informing me.

That’s when our lives began to spiral.

The breeder he chose, Jeanette Gibson, somehow managed to poison my mate against me and by the time she got pregnant, he had complete disdain for me. He began to find fault in everything I did and even became abusive towards me. I tried my best to make things work and to be the perfect Luna but he wouldn’t budge, he was so enamored with Jeanette and her baby.

If only he knew the truth.

“Well, answer us.” My mate pressed. “How do you plead?”

“Not guilty.” I stated with conviction and the hall around me erupted in self-righteous murmurs and gossip.

“Silence!” My mate ordered and the room quieted once again. Then he turned his hateful gaze on me. “You tried to kill my unborn child.”

I shook my head frantically. “No, Darling. Tha-”

“I am Alpha Ragnuff Richardson to you!” He yelled and I jerked in fright.

Does he now hate me so much that I can’t call him affectionately?

I took a deep breath and exhaled. “Alpha Richardson,” I began. “I did not try to kill your child. I could never hurt what is yours!”

“That’s not what Jeanette said.” Ragnuff countered. “She’s lying in the hospital because she said you pushed her.”

I tried to counter his argument but he was in some way right. I did, in fact, push Jeanette but that was because she assaulted me first and I was only trying to free myself from her.

How can I explain this to Ragnuff and still be vindicated?

“Alpha Ragnuff, please listen to me.” I pleaded. “That baby Jeanette is carrying isn’t yours.”

A round of whispers went round the hall. My mate’s eyes widened in shock before narrowing in anger. “How dare you speak such blasphemous words against my Jeanette?”

His Jeanette?

“Hone- I mean Alpha Richardson, I am telling the utmost truth. I found out and I confronted her about it. That’s why she’s lying that I tried to kill her baby. It’s not yours!”

“SHUT UP!” My mate yelled at me. “Jeanette told me that you were jealous of her but I didn’t believe her. I can’t believe you’d stoop so low as to lie against that poor girl just because you are barren.”

Before I could speak, the doors opened and Jeanette stormed in, carrying fury in her eyes.

The moment she got to me, her hand flew out and smacked me across the face.

“You good for nothing woman!,“ She sniffled and wiped a non-existent tear from her face. “You’ve won!”

I held my face as I frowned at her words. How did I win when I am standing trial for attempted murder?

Jeanette suddenly burst into tears.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” My mate drew her closer, causing a sharp pain to stab not just my heart but my wolf. Jeanette pretended to not want to be in his grip by shying away.

“I’m so sorry.” She cried, “but I lost our baby.”

Now the courtroom was in uproar at her words. I stared at her in disbelief wondering if I really did push her that hard. My mate turned to me with the utmost anger on his face.

“By my decree, I, Alpha Ragnulf Richardson, reject you as my mate and sentence you to death!”

The force of his rejection drove me to my knees before I could even process his deadly judgment. Like fire to a rope, I felt our connection burn and fizzle out and I barely had enough time to mourn our loss before two firm hands suddenly grabbed me by each arm, forcing me to my feet.

Then my reality dawned on me.

“Ragnulf, please!” I cried as I struggled between the two men who held me firm. “I swear on all that’s sacred, I didn’t do it! I didn’t kill her baby.”

I cried, knowing I never pushed her that hard.

My mate cradled Jeanette to himself and when his face was turned away, I caught a snide smirk on Jeanette’s face.

She was lying after all!

“Ragnulf please! She’s lying!” I struggled as I was in their hold and when I saw one of Ragnulf’s officers bring out a large silver dagger, I began to cry. “Please, Ragnulf.” I begged but his face was turned away as he held Jeanette close to his heart.

I faced the oncoming assault with tears and a silent prayer to the Moon Goddess.

“Please, give me a second chance.” I whispered right before the silver dagger went through my heart.

Chapter 2

LYRA

I remember the pain, hot and searing. I remember finding it hard to breathe. I remember breathing my last as darkness enveloped me.

What I don’t remember is how I got saved.

I opened my eyes and sat up in bed. Breathing hard, I looked around and found myself back in my Luna mansion.

How did I get here?

The last time I checked, Ragnulf had thrown me into prison before executing me. Right?

I got up from the bed, and stared at myself in the mirror. Then I saw a scar running over my left breast. Touching it, I got flashes of how I was murdered.

What happened? How am I still here? Did someone save me?

The door opened and I jerked in fright - my heart hammering fast thinking it was Ragnulf’s men coming for me like they did last time.

Instead, it was my personal maid, named Thea. She carried a tray of food and carefully placed it on the table next to my bed.

“Happy Birthday, my lady.” She bowed her head. “Just a gentle reminder that the Alpha hosted a birthday for you at the Lunar Hall. What dress would you like to wear?”

I stared at her like she was stupid. “My birthday was months ago, Thea.”

Her brows furrowed as her eyes moved with uncertainty. “My Luna, I am pretty sure it's today.”

I stared at her warily. How can something I have attended months ago happen today? Then it dawned on me that Thea was dressed exactly as she was dressed that day.

If I should guess right, she made pork chops and chicken noodles for me. Checking to see if I was right, I went to the plate of food and opened the covers.

To my surprise, I was right.

This wasn't a usual meal I ate but that morning, my mate had sourced it specially for me to make me happy.

“There hasn't been pork in the pack for weeks. Where did you get this?” I asked her.

“My Luna, Alpha Ragnulf secured it for you from a neighboring pack. He knows how much you like pork and wants you to be happy.”

I blinked in shock. Is this Deja Vu or something? Am I dreaming?

I shook my head. If it was all a dream, then I wouldn't have this scar over my body. Right?

So was this a second chance? Did the Moon Goddess hear me?

“My Luna, are you okay?”

I blinked, and formed a smile. “Yes, I am. Get me the midnight sparkly gown I chose yesterday.”

Thea bowed and left the room.

I began to wonder as I stared in the mirror. If I went back in time, then that meant the Goddess wanted me to have a second chance. I stared at the scar again, remembering the dagger sinking in, Jeanette’s smirk and Ragnulf’s indifference.

Whatever this is, I will not waste it. I will not let Jeanette win this time.

The time for the party arrived and I was dressed to the nines in a stunning glittering black dress. All day I hadn’t seen Ragnulf because he was in between pack meetings. So tonight, I was seeing him for the first time since I woke up.

My heart hammered when I walked in the hall and there he was, watching me with awe and admiration instead of hate and disdain. He was dressed just like last time so this further proves the fact that I went back in the past. Still, my heart hammered as I approached him, knowing fully well he was responsible for my death.

“Happy birthday, my love.” He said and as I approached him, he tried to hold my face but I flinched in fear.

His brows furrowed in confusion. “Are you alright, my love?”

I forced a smile for him and nodded. “Yeah. Just jittery.”

He smiled. “You don’t need to be nervous, my love. This party is all for you.”

I reinforced my fake smile for him as I faced the crowd. He was right. This party was for me to be distracted so he could sneak into Jeanette’s room.

About an hour later, a gift was presented to me by Ragnulf himself and before he opened it, I already knew what it would be.

It was a rare blue moonstone pendant that made everybody gush.

I turned around and packed my hair up so he could slide the necklace around my neck. As he did so, I remembered how he had dragged it from my neck when he arrested me for pushing Jeanette.

“You don’t deserve something this grand.” He had said back then before giving it to Jeanette to wear.

After wearing it and turning to show everyone, Ragnulf tried again to approach me. This time, I let him while curling my hands into fists as I stiffened and let him taste me.

In order for me to win, I have to play along.

Afterward, the party went on, celebrating me while others stacked up gifts in a mountain for me. On this day months ago, I was so preoccupied receiving gifts that I had no idea that Ragnulf had snuck off.

This time, I kept him in my peripheral vision and the moment he slipped away, I put my personal maid in charge of gifts and I followed after him.

He went outside the hall towards his horse carriage and just as he was about to get in, I called out.

“Leaving so soon?”

He paused and turned to me, his eyes wide in surprise. “Oh Darling.” He chuckled nervously. “Just wanted to see someone real quick.”

“Someone?” I raised a brow, “who could be more important than your mate on her birthday, Ragnulf? Who?”

Welcome!
