Marrying His Savior, My Husband Cried for Me After

Marrying His Savior, My Husband Cried for Me After

Chapter 1

“Dad,I’ve decided to divorce Aaron, take sole custody of the baby, move back home and take over the family business.I’m also agreeing to the arranged marriage with the Dalton Family.”

“Are you sure about this,Cassidy? The CEO of the Daltons...he’s infertile.”came his voice through the line.

A scoff slipped past my lips.

An infertile man is always better than my cheating husband.

The day of my final prenatal checkup,my husband,Aaron Mackey, claimed he had a business trip and couldn’t make it.

So there I was,at the OB-GYN,sitting alone in the waiting room, when I caught sight of Aaron gently kissing Nancy Cross’s pregnant belly, his voice soft and affectionate.

“When our baby is born,”he murmured,“he’s going to be the rightful heir to the Mackey legacy.”

Nancy tilted her head up,pretending to be worried.“Aaron, your wife’s pregnant too…What if she finds out about us?What if she refuses to let our child into the family?”

Aaron scoffed, his tone turning cold.“And who is she to say no?If she gives me trouble,I’ll divorce her.I’ll throw her out with nothing.”

Every word hit me like a brick. My body went stiff.

He once went diving just to find me a new pearl, only to disappear at sea. When they found him,he had amnesia—and Nancy,a nightclub dancer, was the one who’d“rescued”him.

Once his memories came back,he said he wanted to return to me.I believed he had. What I didn’t know was,he and Nancy never really ended.

She’s pregnant with his child. And now,he’s scheming to kick me out with nothing.

At this moment,I was completely sober and made the decision to divorce.

“I know. But that’s fine. My child will be the heir to both the Blake and Dalton legacies.”

My father agreed immediately.

The second I hung up,I booked the earliest flight out.

Flight in three weeks.

That’s all I needed. In three weeks,I’d be gone for good.

But then why...did that man show up at my wedding with red eyes, begging me to take him back?

——

“Dad,I’ve decided to divorce Aaron, take sole custody of the baby, move back home and take over the family business.I’m also agreeing to the arranged marriage with the Dalton Family.”

“Are you sure about this,Cassidy? The CEO of the Daltons...he’s infertile.”

“I know. But that’s fine. My child will be the heir to both the Blake and Dalton legacies.”

My father agreed immediately.

“Alright.I’ll reach out to the Daltons now.You should start preparing your immigration paperwork.”

I nodded and began drafting the divorce papers with my attorney.

As I stared at the list of asset divisions,it felt like I was watching the life I shared with Aaron slowly disappear.

I also prepared a consent form for pregnancy termination—there was no way I was letting Aaron fight me for custody.

Once everything was ready,I called Aaron.

Before he lost his memory,he would pick up my calls within seconds.

But ever since he came back from that,I no longer had that privilege.

The line kept ringing. The longer it took, the heavier the ache in my chest grew.

It wasn’t until I had called non-stop for half an hour that he finally answered.

“Hey,baby.What’s wrong?”

His voice was gentle, but in the background I could hear Nancy’s playful giggle.

I forced myself to ignore the sting in my heart and spoke calmly,“I need to talk to you.Come home.”

Aaron didn’t get a chance to reply before Nancy’s voice came through the phone.

“Aaron,”she called.“I lost the dare.Can I kiss you?”

He quickly covered the receiver.A few seconds later,he told me it was just a friend messing around.

Then, before I could say anything else,he hung up.

Tears slipped down my cheeks as I slowly lowered the phone, forcing a bitter smile.

After Aaron returned,he acted like everything was fine.

Whenever someone mentioned Nancy,he’d always respond with a look of disgust.

“A dancer?If I hadn’t lost my memory,I would never have mistaken her for you,Cassidy.”

I thought nothing had changed. But clearly, ever since his amnesia,a countdown had started between us.

He didn’t come home until after midnight.

When he saw me sitting in the living room, his brows knitted. He loosened his tie and moved to hug me,but I stepped aside without a word.

He froze for a second, then softened his tone,“I’m sorry I’m late.Don’t be mad, okay?I’ll make it up to you.”

He gently took my hand and tried to make me slap him with it—something he always did when apologizing.

But the scent of roses on his clothes made my stomach turn.

I was allergic to roses. My favorite flower was iris.Only Nancy loved roses.

They’d clearly been intimate before he came home.

That thought sent a sharp ache through my chest.

I said nothing and pushed him away.He didn’t know how to react to my coldness and frowned.

I handed him a stack of papers, hiding the divorce agreement and the miscarriage consent form beneath a fake shopping contract. My expression was unreadable.

Aaron blinked,then chuckled softly.

“Already picked something out?Let’s see what you want to buy.”

He lifted the documents and started flipping through them.

Right then,his phone rang.

From where I sat,I saw Nancy’s name flash on the screen. He frowned and declined the call. Then he went back to the papers. But the phone kept buzzing, notifications popping up with photos.

Aaron gave me a small, reassuring smile, then his expression darkened.

“Baby, let me take this real quick,”he said.

He was about to rush out,but I grabbed his wrist.

“Sign the papers.”

His face flickered with irritation, but he quickly scribbled his signature on both documents. Then,in a softer voice, said,“Next time, just buy whatever you want.No need for this whole process.”

And with that,he ran outside to answer his phone.

I let out a hollow laugh.

That was his final chance.I gave him one last out.And he blew it.

Once my immigration paperwork is approved,Aaron and I would have nothing to do with each other ever again.

Chapter 2

I thought Aaron wouldn’t come back that night.

But to my surprise,he stormed in just a few minutes later.

He didn’t even hang up his phone before slapping me across the face.

I stared up at him in disbelief.

Even after learning he was still involved with Nancy,I never imagined he’d lay a hand on me.

Aaron raised his arm again, trembling with rage, but froze when he saw the tears on my face.

He turned and smashed a pair of porcelain figurines on the floor—figurines he had once made of the two of us.

Back then,he even mixed in one of his own ribs while crafting them.

“I want us to be together forever,”he had said, cradling me with the gentlest look in his eyes.

And now,he shattered them without hesitation, threatening me for Nancy’s sake.

I couldn’t breathe. It was like the air had been sucked out of the room.

Aaron grabbed my chin roughly.

“Tell me,where you keep her?I don’t have time for your little play,”his voice was cold and fla.

He was pissed. And clearly in love with Nancy.

I gave a hollow smile,my voice hoarse.“I didn’t do it.”

My eyes were empty.I couldn’t understand how we ended up like this.

He used to love me so much—how could he just fall for someone else?

But he didn’t believe me.Not even a little.

He shoved me into a corner and punched the wall right next to my head.

“She was crying when she called.Do you have any idea how much that hurt me?She told me everything—it was you who had her kidnapped!”His voice was sharp, his eyes darker than ink.

“Think about your family’s company,Cassidy.Think about your parents.Do you want me to ruin them?”

I shook my head slowly, like a puppet that had lost all its strings.

Aaron’s expression turned to ice.He gripped my arm and dragged me toward the storage room.

I realized too late what he was planning.

Before I could stop him,the door slammed shut in my face.

I collapsed to the ground, trembling uncontrollably.

Aaron knew I had severe claustrophobia from being kidnapped as a child. But still,he locked me in here—for Nancy.

I clawed at the door, weakly crying out,“Let me out,Aaron. Please, let me out!”

My pleas meant nothing.

Through the door,I heard his muffled voice.

“That’s what you get for being ignorant!I want you to feel what you Nancy put’s going through.Once I find her,I’ll let you out.”

And with that,his footsteps faded.

Tears streamed down my cheeks.I remembered telling Aaron about this childhood trauma—how much it hurt me.Back then,he swore he’d never let me feel that way again.Everywhere we lived,he made sure the doors were always open.

Our estate hadn’t gone a single night without lights for over a decade. He used to say the lights were like his love—always burning, never fading.

But now,that promise meant nothing.

Three days later, when I was on the brink of collapse, the housekeeper finally opened the door.I stumbled out, ignoring the doctor waiting for me.Clutching the divorce documents and my immigration papers,I used the last of my strength to get everything finalized.

It would take two weeks for the visa to be processed.

Two more weeks.

And I would leave with my child, free to marry again.

Aaron and I would never cross paths again.

After everything was settled at the immigration office,I let the frantic housekeeper—who had been searching for me everywhere—escort me back to the Mackey estate.Only after hiding away all the important documents did I finally allow myself to close my eyes and pass out.

###Chapter 3

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the sterile white ceiling of a hospital room.

Aaron was sitting beside my bed, peeling fruit.I smelled the faint fragrance of irises—my favorite flower—and saw a fresh bouquet in the vase on my nightstand.

“You’re awake,”Aaron said, reaching for my hand the moment I stirred.

He was dressed in a sharp black suit, his face as handsome as ever, his eyes soft and full of warmth—just like the man who used to love me deeply.

But I knew better now.

Everything had changed.

I subtly pulled my hand away. His fingers froze in midair for a moment and then he looked at me with visible guilt.

“I’m sorry,”he murmured.“I shouldn’t have locked you up.But you know Nancy saved my life once.I couldn’t just abandon her.”

“Think of it as me repaying a debt.Once I’ve made it up to her,I’ll come back to you.”

“Life is long, sweetheart.Just let me stay by her side…for a while.”

He pulled me into a tight hug.The scent of roses clung to him, heavy and sweet—it hit my nose and churned my stomach.

Roses were Nancy’s favorite.

It was obvious where the scent came from.

I wriggled out of his arms and gave him a calm, emotionless nod.

“Okay.”

My answer was so quick and indifferent,it caught him off guard.

He stared at me,confused.Something flickered behind his eyes—an uneasy feeling, perhaps—but before he could say anything, his phone buzzed.

He glanced at the screen and in an instant, whatever concern he had vanished.

Through the slight tilt of his phone,I saw it clearly—Nancy had sent him a photo. She was wearing a red lace see-through nightgown, seductive and teasing, barely covering anything.

Aaron shot to his feet, too eager to hide it.Without a word,he tossed a small box onto my bed and started walking toward the door.

“Oh,”he said,“this is an apology gift Nancy and I picked out for you.She didn’t mean to accuse you of the kidnapping. It was a misunderstanding. Please accept it and forgive her.”

Then,as another message from Nancy came through, his lips curled into a fond, almost lovesick smile.

“Nancy can be a little impulsive, but she means well,”he said, his eyes full of affection. He looked back at me briefly.I gave a small nod. That was all it took.Aaron left in a rush, like he'd been given permission.

I opened the box slowly.Inside were a pair of rose-shaped earrings.

As soon as I lifted the lid,the overpowering scent of roses hit me square in the face.

I flinched and threw the box away in disgust—but it was too late. My skin erupted in a rash almost immediately.

It wasn’t just a gift.It was a message.

A quiet,smug provocation from Nancy.

And Aaron…he knew I was allergic to roses.

Or maybe he’d just forgot.

Maybe,after everything,I was that forgettable.

I clenched my fists so tight my nails drew blood. The red drops soaked through the hospital sheets.

Fifteen minutes later,my phone buzzed.

[Rest up.I’ll come pick you up once you’re discharged.]

A single tear slipped from the corner of my eye.I wiped it away, deleted the message and turned off my phone.

***

Three days later,I was finally discharged from the hospital. The housemaids came to pick me up.

As we pulled away,my phone buzzed again.A message from Aaron.

[Nancy’s not feeling well.I hope you understand.I’ll bring you a gift to make up for it.]

I swiped the notification away without a second thought.Just twelve more days.

The moment I arrived at the Mackey estate,I went straight to my room to pack.I began sorting through my things methodically.

The photo albums I once cherished so dearly—I threw them into the fireplace.

The countless letters Aaron had written over the past ten years, the little notes he used to leave me,even the clothes he once sewed with his own hands…

I destroyed them all,one by one.

Finally, with only a small suitcase left,I was ready to go.

That’s when Aaron showed up at the door—his arm wrapped protectively around Nancy.

The moment he saw the suitcase in my hand, the smile on his face disappeared.

“Where are you going?”he asked, his brows furrowing deeply.

I didn’t answer.Without a word,I stepped past them,determined to leave.But Aaron reached out and grabbed my arm,gripping it tightly.

Nancy’s eyes flickered with something dark—resentment, maybe jealousy—before she quickly blinked and tears began to pool in her lashes.

“Aaron…maybe Cassidy knew I was coming. That’s probably why she’s leaving.”

She sniffled softly, then added,“Maybe I should just go back to where I came from.Men at the club do harass me,but…it’s fine.I’m used to it.”

The moment those words left her lips,Aaron’s expression twisted with heartbreak.Without hesitation,he pulled her into his arms and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

“You’re not going back there. You have me now,”he whispered.“I won’t let you suffer through that ever again.”

The scene was so absurd,I almost laughed.Instead,I turned back toward the door.

Then Aaron’s voice rang out behind me.

“Guards—take my wife back to her room.Don’t let her step one foot out of this estate.”

I turned around slowly, catching the sharp impatience in his eyes.

“Cassidy, stop being so childish,”he snapped.“You agreed to this at the hospital, remember?Or have you already forgotten?”

I didn’t look at either of them.I walked silently into the living room.

A few minutes later,Aaron came out of the kitchen, carefully carrying a bowl of soup.He handed it to Nancy with a gentleness that made it seem like it was crafted from gold.

Then he saw me,standing nearby. His expression faltered.

“This is for pregnant women,”he said softly.“I’ll make something you like next time.”

He reached out a hand toward me.

I took a step back,avoiding his touch.

His fists clenched at his sides. For a moment, panic flashed in his eyes.

Ever since I left the hospital, everything had started slipping through his fingers.

He opened his mouth, like he wanted to say something—but his phone rang.

He quickly stepped out to take the call, but I still heard a fragment of the conversation.

[Mr.Mackey, the luxury estate you requested for your wife is ready. When will you be moving in?]

My lips curled into a bitter smile.

That“wife”clearly wasn’t me.

After Aaron left,Nancy slowly sipped her soup, then turned to me with a mocking smile.

“A man who says he loves two women? He only really loves the second one.And I won’t allow my man to have two women.”

She finished the soup in one last sip,her eyes dark with calculation.

Then, without warning, she threw herself forward—slamming her stomach onto the floor.

“Aaron!”

Her scream pierced the air.

Aaron burst into the room like a madman. The moment he saw the blood pooling beneath Nancy, his face turned deathly pale.

“Doctor!Somebody call a doctor!”

His hands trembled as he lifted her into his arms.Nancy, barely conscious, shakily raised a hand to point at me.

“Cassidy…she put iris flower in my soup…”

The moment those words left her lips, she coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Aaron’s eyes snapped to mine, colder than I’d ever seen them.Without warning,he kicked me—hard—sending me crashing to the ground.

Pain exploded through my body as I clutched my stomach, gasping in agony.

“My baby…please,my baby…”

I was trembling,my voice barely a whisper.

But Aaron just stood there, eyes filled with loathing.

“I never imagined you could be this vile,Cassidy! You tried to harm Nancy’s baby!If anything happens to either of them,I swear—I’ll make you pay!”

He spat the words at me,then stormed out with Nancy in his arms—never once looking back at me.

Chapter 4

After a simple treatment,I was dragged into the living room. The iris garden in the manor had been completely uprooted and replaced with roses.

Aaron stood there, cold as ever.“Nancy’s too kind. She’s willing to let go of what you did,if you hand over the pearl necklace.”

He paused, then added,as if it was nothing,“She heard pearls bring good luck. She just wants to borrow it until the baby’s born.Cassidy, this is your chance to make amends.”

My body trembled.I nearly laughed.

Make amends?I didn’t even do anything.

That pearl necklace was something Aaron had dived into the sea to gather for me—one pearl at a time.He said they were pearls he’d risked his life for and that they would keep me safe. When I got pregnant,he even said he’d collect another necklace for the baby.He once said he’d risk his life a thousand times over just to ensure my safety.

But now,he man who swore to protect me had become the one who kept wounding me.

My fists clenched tightly,my heart bleeding.

When I didn’t respond,Aaron reached out and yanked the necklace from my neck.He turned away with a look of satisfaction, completely ignoring the red marks left on my skin.

Of course. He didn’t care about my life anymore—what was a little red mark to him?

I shut my eyes tightly. As far as I was concerned, the Aaron who once loved me had died in that ocean long ago.

With that thought, whatever lingering affection I had for him vanished completely.

That night,Nancy moved out of the manor.

I knew Aaron had relocated her to another estate he prepared just for her.

But even with her gone, the manor no longer felt the same.It was branded with Nancy’s presence. It wasn’t my home anymore.

Over the next few days,Aaron kept going back and forth between Nancy’s estate and mine.

The following morning,he acted like the man he used to be—gentle and attentive.

Every time I opened my eyes, there were new gifts laid before me:jewelry, luxury cars, villas. He even gifted me a private ocean.

In that sea of extravagance,Aaron extended his hand gently to me.For a moment,I thought I saw the old Aaron again.

“Cassidy,”he said softly,“I know I went too far.You went too far, yes, but I was wrong too.I’m sorry.I’ll never treat you like that again. You’ll always be the lady of the Mackey Family.”

He placed a jeweled crown on my head as he spoke. It was the third token of his love for me—the symbol of the Mackey matriarch.

The top gem of the crown was the key to the Mackey Family’s vault. It gave access to half of their wealth and power.

After placing the crown,Aaron looked at me,waiting for the smile I used to give him.

Every time he made me mad in the past,a simple apology would melt my heart.

But this time,I just pulled out my allergy meds in silence. It was how I’d been surviving these days.

Aaron frowned and was about to speak when his phone suddenly rang.

“Mr.Mackey,Miss Cross said she’s going to marry a decent man and raise the baby. You need to come quickly!”

Aaron’s expression shifted.Without a word,he dragged me to the estate he’d prepared for Nancy.

Nancy was already dressed in a wedding gown, her baby bump subtly showing, making her look frail and delicate.

Tears welled in her eyes as she saw Aaron.Lifting her head, she said in a trembling voice,

“Aaron,my father is sick. His dying wish is to see me married.I know I’m just a dancer–I can never be worthy to be the lady of the Mackey Family. But at least I want to fulfill his last wish.”

She gently rubbed her belly and added dramatically,“I can’t bear to end this baby’s life.I’ll marry someone kind. We’ll raise this child together.”

She turned to leave, walking painfully slow.

As expected,Aaron rushed forward and stopped her.

“You want my child to call someone else‘dad’?I won’t allow it!”

He pulled Nancy into his arms and kissed her passionately.

Watching their romantic soap-opera scene unfold,my heart felt dead.

Only after Nancy was breathless and blushing did Aaron let go of her.

He turned to me,eyes conflicted and after a long silence said,

“Cassidy,let’s get a divorce.”

Chapter 5

I stared straight at him,but Aaron fell silent.

He had someone take Nancy away, then looked at me and sighed.

“Don’t be upset, okay?I know this is all too sudden, but you saw it.Her dad’s dying. His last wish is to see her get married and I can’t let my kid call another man‘Dad’.”

He studied my blank expression and kept going.

“It’s just a fake divorce.Just paperwork.We’ll hold a ceremony,make the old man happy.Then I’ll explain everything to Nancy.”

He made all the arrangements and I calmly nodded my agreement.

Aaron looked relieved—but when he saw my expression,he hesitated.

“Cassidy,”he called,“why do I feel like you don’t care about me anymore?”

I stayed silent,expressionless.

He opened his mouth to say more, but just then, his assistant burst in,panicked.

“Mr.Mackey,Miss Cross insist to leave. We can’t stop her.”

Aaron dropped everything and ran out, grabbing Nancy.

“I said I’d marry you!Can’t you wait?”

He clutched her tightly, then shouted at the assistant,“Announce my divorce now!”

I stepped forward to stop the assistant, but before I could speak,Aaron roared,“Cassidy! This is not the time for your tantrums—get out of the way!”

Seeing how desperate he was for Nancy,I forced a stiff smile.

“I have something for you.”

Anger flashed in Aaron’s eyes.“Enough.I don’t care what it is.I have to keep Nancy from going.”

Then,without hesitation,he shoved me hard.

I fell, gasping in pain, clutching my bag where the divorce papers were.

Nancy’s eyes gleamed with triumph. She stopped resisting, fainted dramatically into Aaron’s arms.Without sparing me a glance,Aaron picked her up and walked away.

I watched them go,erasing every memory of Aaron from my heart.

Under everyone’s sympathetic stares,I forced myself to stand and walked away.

Back at the manor,I packed up everything I owned.

I left behind only the divorce certificate, the jeweled crown and the signed miscarriage consent form.

Before boarding the plane,Nancy sent me countless photos of her and Aaron in bed.

I didn’t even glance at them.I just tossed my SIM card out the airport window.

Everything between Aaron and I was over at this moment.

From now on,I will pursue my own sun.

Welcome!
