The Best Anniversary Gift is A Divorce Agreement

The Best Anniversary Gift is A Divorce Agreement

Chapter 1

After discovering I was pregnant, I decided to handle my own obstetric examination. However, I unexpectedly stumbled upon Theo Zelinsky and his young secretary, Clara Madden, in the obstetrics and gynecology department, caught in the midst of their own ‘appointment’.

At that moment, I still didn't understand anything. I just remembered what Theo told me, "We better not have a baby, Alina. You’re not in a good health."

But then I realized that it’s not Theo didn't want children, but he just didn't want to have children with me.

I followed behind them and heard Theo say happily to his beloved secretary, "When our baby is born, I will raise him to be the heir of the Zelinsky Group. My heir can only be your child."

Looking at the pregnancy test report in my hand, I pressed the long-lost phone number with a trembling hand.

"Uncle, I want to go home."

The man on the other side of the phone heard my voice, was stunned for a moment and then said, "After seven days, I will take you home myself."

——

Being with Theo for over seven years, he said he's always wanted a child. But unfortuntely, due to my physical condition, I've never been able to conceive.

Lately, I've been feeling nauseous and lethargic.

Afraid that my illness would affect our plans to conceive, I decided to get a check-up.

When I came out of the gastroenterology department, I was completely bewildered as the doctor's words echoing in my mind, "According to your indicators, you should be pregnant. I suggest you visit the obstetrics and gynecology department."

I did what the doctor suggested. There, as I was about to register at the Obstetrics and Gynecology department, I saw Theo embracing a woman at the entrance.

The woman, Clara Madden, was leaning into Theo like a little bird.

"Theo, do you think I'm carrying a boy or a girl?"

Clara placed Theo's hand on her stomach and Theo couldn't contain his smile.

"Whether it's a boy or a girl, your child will be the heir of my Zelinsky Family."

"You serious? But don't you want to have a child with your haggard wife?"

"That woman? Huh, she's just a scapegoat for me to get through hard times. Having children should be about true love."

When I heard Theo call me a scapegoat, my heart ached as if being squeezed by something.

So in Theo's eyes, I was not worthy of bearing his child and he even let his assistant defame me.

The love that Theo always talked about turned out to be an act.

I hid in a corner, watching them leave the hospital before I went for the check-up.

While waiting for the results, I was so nervous that the examination paper in my hand was all crumpled.

I was afraid. What if I really was pregnant? What would happen to my child?

Yeah, finally the results on the examination report were exactly what I didn't want to see.

I came home with the report on my hand, but it turned out Theo wasn't back yet.

"My dear, I don't know whether you should come into this world or not. Your father doesn't seem to be looking forward to your arrival."

I gently touched my lower abdomen, trying to feel the tiny embryo.

"Honey, I'm home."

Theo finally returned. He had a strong perfume smell on him. I wrinkled my nose and avoided his embrace.

"Honey, what's wrong with you today? Are you not happy seeing me back?"

"Your perfume is too strong, making me uncomfortable."

A hint of guilt flashed across Theo's eyes. I pretended not to see it and asked tentatively, "Theo, would you be happy if I had a child?"

"Oh, come on, Honey. Your health isn't good. I am okay if we don’t have a child.”

Theo was earnest, holding me tightly in his arms. If I hadn't caught him and Clara today, I would have thought he was genuinely concerned about my health.

My heart felt like it had fallen into an ice cellar. Why did I want an answer?

Theo sensed my low mood and hurriedly comforted me, saying, "Alright, if you really like children, let's adopt one."

Adopt? Did he mean he want me to raise Clara's child?

Yeah, people can do anything for true love.

Perhaps Theo forgot, it was him who had been looking forward to a child all these years, not me.

At that moment, Aunt Janette brought over the medicine I should take every day. The bitter smell of it made me want to vomit.

I knocked over the medicine and rushed into the bathroom to throw up.

Theo pretended to shake his head at Aunt Janette, signaling her to clean up the mess.

I didn't notice the flicker of ferocity in Theo's eyes.

"Honey, why don't we go to the hospital and get you checked out?"

Looking at Theo pretending to be considerate, I shook my head, poured myself a glass of warm water and slowly recovered.

"No need, I just don't want to take that medicine."

Now I sarted to doubt whether the medicine that Theo made me take every day was really for nourishment.

Chapter 2

Theo noticed that my mood had been low lately, so he brought his work home.

One day, Clara happened to come to deliver some documents to Theo. When she saw me, she politely greeted me, "Long time no see, Madam Alina."

Seeing Clara's hypocritical behavior made me nauseous, but I still put on a smile and asked, "Clara, you look like you’re pregnant. Oh, are you? But I remember you're not married yet, aren't you?"

"I’m actually married, Madam. My husband said that we'll have the wedding after the baby is born. It'll be a double celebration."

"Ah, I see. So you're pregnant before marriage. Alright, just be careful not to be deceived."

When Theo heard our talk downstairs, he came out of the study and called Clara impatiently.

"Madam, I'll go and give the documents to Mr. Zelinsky first."

That was the first time in my life to realized that Theo was a great actor. I had never noticed how deceitful he was in front of me before.

From the partially closed door of the study, I saw Theo pressing Clara under him.

"Be careful not to hurt the baby."

"I'll be careful. You better not make any noise. My wife is at home."

There was no hiding the desire in Theo's eyes and Clara initiated a kiss on his lips.

After the kiss, Clara, nestled in Theo's arms, cooed, "Your wife insulted me like that and you didn't say anything? If you can't even bear this, how can our child become rich and powerful in the future?"

Afraid that Clara would start a fuss, Theo distracted her with something else.

I couldn't stand it anymore, took out my phone, snapped a few pictures and left.

Back in the living room, I was retching into the trash can.

I decisively made an appointment for termination of pregnancy on my mobile phone. I didn't want my child to be born into a loveless family.

When Clara came out of the study, her clothes were wrinkled and she looked smug when she saw me.

"Madam, may I ask something?”

“Yes?”

“Why aren't you pregnant yet?"

I knew what she meant.

"I guess I'm just not that fortunate, Clara."

"Ah, I am sorry to hear that, Madam. But don’t be sad. These things can't be forced. My figure's gone after getting pregnant. I really envy that you haven't changed over the years."

At this time, Aunt Janette brought over another bitter medicine. Seeing my reluctance to drink it, Clara kindly persuaded me.

"Madam, good medicine is indeed bitter. Maybe once your health improves, you can also have a child."

Theo came out of the study at some point, took the medicine from Aunt Janette and looked at me sincerely.

"Let me feed you, Honey."

I knew I had to drink the medicine today. I took one gulp after another.

"It's getting late. I should go now, Mr. Zelinsky, Madam Alina."

"Honey, I'll see her out."

Before I could respond, Theo eagerly took Clara away.

I felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen and blood stained the sofa.

"Aunt Janette! Call an ambulance quickly!"

Aunt Janette saw the blood under me and quickly dialed 120. She then tried to call Theo, but he hung up.

I saw the embarrassment in Aunt Janette's eyes and shook my head.

"No need to call him. I can handle it."

At the hospital, the doctor told me that the baby might not be saved. That's when I realized that the medicine Theo had been giving me every day was not for improving my health.

It was to prevent me from getting pregnant.

I cried my heart out in the hospital room. I never thought Theo could be so ruthless.

When Theo arrived at the hospital, he didn't even notice that his wedding ring was missing.

I guess the wedding ring must be with Clara.

"Theo, what kind of medicine did you give me?! Why did I have a miscarriage?!"

Theo quickly held me in his arms to comfort me.

"It's just a regular tonic. I don't know what went wrong. I'll find out what happened when I get home."

"Do I need an explanation? I lost my baby, what's the point of your explanation?!"

I slapped Theo hard.

Chapter 3

After Clara knew about my miscarriage, she came to the hospital to see me without telling Theo.

"Madam Alina, what do you think about this ring? Seems familiar, right? Mr. Zelinsky accidentally fell it at my house last time.”

I looked at the wedding ring that was exactly the same as my own and I couldn't bear it anymore.

"Do you think you're going to win me, Clara? Since he can hide from me and others, he can naturally hide from you and others.”

Clara didn't expect me to tell the truth so calmly.

"Three years ago, when I was a personal secretary by Mr. Zelinsky's side, he promised that I would only let me leave the heir of the Zelinsky Family and you were just the one who was wronged by him during the crisis. How much do you think he loves you?

Even your wedding rings can be left on me, do you really think that you deserve the position of Mrs. Zelinsky? If you still want face, make room for me as soon as possible.”

I had instant ringing in my ears and I could only see Clara's mouth moving but I didn't know what she was talking about.

Clara's every word was a knife into my heart.

It turned out that I was looking forward to the wedding anniversary, but Theo was in love with others in bed.

It turned out that the child he was expecting was a lie to comfort me.

It turned out that he said that he didn't want me to have children because of my health, but he was able to have children with others outside.

It wasn't until Clara left that I threw all the things on the bedside table to the ground.

The nurse heard the movement and came in to see that I was bleeding from my lower body and rushed me to the emergency room.

When the doctor asked my guardian to sign, he found that my emergency contact was not answering the phone.

"It's okay... I can sign it myself.”

I took the pen and signed my name tremblingly while saying inwardly, “Theo, I want you to spend the rest of your life in remorse.”

After coming out of the emergency room, Theo was late, just like when I had a miscarriage.

"Honey, I..."

"I'm tired and want to rest, you can go out first."

Theo still wanted to say something, but with a resolute look, he finally swallowed his words back and closed the door.

My head keep thinking what the doctor said before, “It’s uterine hemorrhage, you can only remove the uterus to save you."

This is the fate I must accept: I would never be able to have children again in my life.

Frustrated, I took out my phone and called the number.

"Uncle..."

The moment the phone was connected, I couldn't stop crying and the people on the other side heard my crying and their voices became panicked.

"What's wrong with you, Alina?"

"Uncle, I want to go home."

"Okay, I'll take you home in seven days."

After I hung up, I contacted my lawyer to draft a divorce agreement for me.

The first day of discharge from the hospital was also the third day of the countdown.

I packed up all the things that Theo gave me and threw them in the trash.

I didn't want these memories at all and since I had decided to leave, I had to deal with them cleanly.

Theo might not dare to face me and he had not been home in the last few days.

Aunt Janette called him and Theo only thought that I was having a temper.

"Let her lose her temper and it will be fine after a while."

I listened to his indifferent tone, thinking that he must be wishing to be with Clara at this time.

On the fourth day of the countdown, I packed my clothes and all the expensive jewelry and found a courier to send them to Clara's home after I left.

If she wanted it, then I'd give it all to her.

Theo came home drunk at this time and he was about to pounce on me as soon as he entered the door.

"Honey, we will have another child."

I looked at Theo's eyes without regret and coaxed him to sign the divorce agreement.

"I recently fell in love with a set of jewelry, can you sign it for me and buy it?"

Theo looked up at me and signed it without hesitation.

"I'll show you when the jewels arrive."

"You always look good with anything, Honey."

That night, Theo wanted to sleep with me, but I found an excuse to refuse and went to sleep in the study alone.

I wouldn't sleep in the same bed as my child's killer!

Tomorrow, I will leave here forever, and then I will make them pay a heavy price for the child I lost!

Welcome!
