Chapter 1
On my son's fifth birthday, Trevor Brandt said he wanted to take us to the largest amusement park in the city. My son and I were both overjoyed.
However, just as my son was about to get out of school, he received a call from Shayne Hale and left in a hurry.
"Sylvia, go pick up our son. I'll wait for you at the amusement park."
I couldn't stop him, so I had to go alone to pick up my son, only to encounter a mentally ill person wielding a knife and attacking people.
To protect my son, I was severely injured and my son was also stabbed several times and fell to the ground.
On the brink of death, my son and I were rushed to the hospital.
After calling Trevor, before I could speak, he impatiently said, “I told you I’m waiting for you at the amusement park. Just bring your son over here.”
“Why bother making me come pick you up? You’re being so dramatic.”
He hung up abruptly and I couldn't get through again. I managed to sign the consent form for my son's surgery with my last breath.
However, due to the late hour, my son could not be saved and passed away.
I was overcome with grief and fainted.
When I came to, I overheard my husband and his secretary talking, "Mr. Brandt, the young master's heart has been transported to another hospital. But isn't this too cruel for the young master and the lady?"
My husband’s cold voice rang out, “There’s no other option. Since he was matched with Shayne’s heart, I can’t watch our daughter with Shayne die. I had to sacrifice him.”
"Make sure you pay the mentally ill man enough money. No one must trace it back to Shayne. I want her to be clean and pure as my wife."
I felt as though I had been plunged into an ice cellar.
It turned out that the happy marriage I thought I had was a grave leading to abyss.
The amusement park trip my son and I had been so looking forward to was the path to abyss.
I swear I would make Trevor pay the price!
Opening my eyes again, I picked up the phone without hesitation and dialed Logan Blanchard's number, speaking in a hoarse voice from the surgery, "About what you told me earlier—taking the position of chief designer at your company—I agree.”
“Additionally, I will revoke all design rights previously granted to the Brandt Family and transfer them to the Blanchard Family. However, you must agree to one thing..."
On the other end of the line, Logan replied without hesitation, "I agree. I'll agree to anything."
Hearing this, my expression hardened.
"I want you to destroy the Brandt Family!"
After I successfully brought down Brandt's company, Trevor would kneel before me, begging me to reconsider.
——
The secretary looked at me on the bed, noticing the bloody wounds on my body and sighed.
“At least the doctor just confirmed there’s still a child in the lady’s womb. Even if the young master has passed away, the lady won’t be too devastated.”
As soon as the secretary finished speaking, Trevor’s expression turned cold.
“Who gave you the authority to make that decision? The child in Sylvia’s womb should be aborted!”
The secretary stared in shock, unable to believe what she had heard.
"Mr. Brandt, the lady is severely injured. If we disregard her condition and take the child as well, it could have a significant impact on her health.”
“Moreover, if the young master has passed away and the child in her womb also dies, the lady might collapse."
The secretary's words did not move Trevor.
He gently placed his hand on my stomach, as if I were something precious.
But the next moment, he spoke without mercy, "Deon's birth was already the biggest mistake I ever made. Now Sylvia is carrying another one in her womb."
"I once promised Shayne that only our children would inherit the Brandt Family. All these years, even after she left me and went abroad, I never forgot our promise.”
“I cannot allow these two children to survive. Otherwise, Sylvia will harbor all sorts of delusions and who knows, she might even try to compete with Shayne's children for the Brandt Family."
As soon as Trevor finished speaking, he ordered the secretary to push me into the operating room without mercy.
The secretary looked at me with my eyes closed and couldn't bear to watch.
Gathering her courage, she pleaded once more, "Mr. Brandt, haven't you already registered your marriage with Ms. Hale?”
“If not yet, she doesn't even have legal status as your wife, so she can't inherit any of the Brandt Family's assets. Why not spare the child in the lady’s womb?"
After the secretary finished speaking, Trevor's dark gaze turned to her.
"When did you become so talkative? Sylvia indeed hasn't registered her marriage with me, but as long as she gives birth to the child, that child will naturally be eligible to inherit the Brandt Family's assets.”
“I cannot allow anything else to happen. Enough, don't say another word."
Trevor cut off the secretary’s words without hesitation.
Perhaps sensing that the secretary was on my side, he waved his hand, signaling the bodyguards outside to come in and push me out.
A sharp pain surged in my chest and I wanted to leap up and confront Trevor about why he was doing this.
If he loved Shayne, why didn't he say so when we got married?
If he had said it back then, I wouldn't have gotten involved all these years and I wouldn't have lost my child's life!
Thinking of this, my hatred for Trevor nearly consumed me.
Just then, there was a commotion at the door and the bodyguard’s respectful voice rang out, “Mr. Brandt, the mentally ill patient who injured the lady and the young master is waiting for you at the door. He says he wants to thank you.”
The bodyguard’s voice trembled as he finished speaking.
Trevor remained unfazed, waving his hand to let the murderer who had attacked me and my son enter my hospital room.
That piercing voice rang in my ears once more. Compared to the madness when he had injured me, he now spoke to Trevor with gratitude.
“Mr. Brandt, I truly thank you for giving me this opportunity. I will speak highly of you in front of Shayne.”
“The police have already received the statement of forgiveness you provided and with my mental illness, I have been released without charges. However, you did promise...”
Trevor's brows furrowed tightly, even though this man was Shayne's relative and it was under his orders that he had attacked me and my son, but he simply didn't like this man.
“Enough! I’ve already had someone transfer ten million to your account. What you did was also helping Shayne. But from now on, you are not allowed to appear in front of Shayne or Sylvia!”
After speaking, the man was ruthlessly driven out.
The fiery hatred in my heart burned even more intensely.
It was my son's birthday and I had already told Trevor a few days earlier to buy him a toy car as a birthday gift.
But at that time, Trevor had merely waved his hand impatiently.
"The future heir of the Brandt Family cannot fall into such traps. He cannot be like ordinary children; otherwise, I will be very troubled."
Hearing his words, my son timidly withdrew his hand.
I wanted to say something. But after taking a call, Trevor smiled broadly and left.
Looking back now, that call was probably from Shayne.
For his first love, Trevor was not only willing to spend ten million casually, but could even use that ten million to buy his own son's life.
What a cruel person!
I strained every muscle to open my eyes, but I couldn’t escape the darkness before me.
Trevor impatiently pinched his temples and said, "Enough, hurry up and get Sylvia to the operating room. If she wakes up, it'll be trouble."
After saying this, Trevor's phone rang and he answered it with a joyful expression.
I clearly heard Shayne's delicate laughter on the other end, along with the voice of a little girl.
Soon, footsteps faded away and I was also pushed into the operating room.
The cold anesthetic was injected into my body. Before I fell into darkness, countless sweet memories of Trevor flashed through my mind.
But those memories were quickly consumed by a fiery inferno.
I swear, I will make Trevor pay for this!
When I opened my eyes again, I immediately picked up my phone and dialed Logan's number, speaking in a hoarse voice after the surgery, "About what you told me earlier—taking the position of Chief Designer at your company—I agree.”
“Additionally, I will revoke all design rights previously granted to the Brandt Corporation and transfer them to the Blanchard Corporation. However, you must agree to one condition..."
On the other end of the line, Logan replied without hesitation, "I agree. I'll agree to anything."
Hearing this, my expression hardened.
"I want you to bring down the Brandt Family!"
On the other end of the line, Logan agreed without hesitation.
At that moment, a voice suddenly came from behind me, "Sylvia, who are you talking to on the phone?"
Chapter 2
Trevor appeared before me.
He was wearing a black trench coat, which I had personally selected for him before he left.
His features were still as kind and handsome as ever.
His almond-shaped eyes were filled with concern and tenderness as he looked at me.
If it weren't for the truth I clearly remembered hearing, I might have been deceived by Trevor as well.
I hung up the phone without expression, using all my strength to suppress the hatred in my heart.
I replied calmly, "Nothing, just a prank call."
Seeing my pale face, Trevor hurriedly embraced me.
Warm tears trickled down my neck as Trevor choked out, “Sylvia, you’re finally awake. I’m so relieved you’re okay.”
"I've been waiting outside the operating room the whole time, watching the red light. I've already lost my son; I can't lose you too."
"And also, our second child... "
At this point, Trevor burst into tears.
His expression was one of intense pain; anyone who saw him would believe him.
I just stared blankly at my flat stomach, tears streaming down my face.
Even though I knew the child inside me would leave me, the realization hit me like a ton of bricks and I was overcome with unbearable pain.
When Trevor finally finished his performance, I trembled and asked, "Where's Deon?"
Trevor's expression froze for a moment before he spoke with a look of guilt, “I was afraid you’d be too upset, so I’ve already buried Deon. Once you’ve recovered, I’ll take you to see him, okay?”
“It’s my fault as a father for not being by your side during this crisis.”
I forced a smile, not intending to expose his lie.
The reason he was so anxious to bury Deon was because he feared I would see my son’s mangled body.
Because his daughter with Shayne was sick, he had to take my son's heart.
What a cold-hearted person!
I looked at the gift box he was carrying, elegantly wrapped with a pink bow.
At a glance, I understood—it was the gift he had prepared for his daughter with Shayne.
How ironic!
My son was dead, yet they were celebrating the survival of that child.
Thinking of this, I reached out to grab the gift box from Trevor, but he suddenly pressed down on my hand.
Seeing the icy expression on my face, a flash of panic crossed Trevor's eyes before he said, “Sylvia, this is a gift I’m giving to a friend’s child. Are you curious?”
I scoffed. 'Today is Deon's birthday. Did you buy him a birthday gift?”
“I thought you still had a soft spot for Deon, but it seems you remembered to buy a gift for your so-called friend's daughter and forgot about your own son."
My icy accusation made Trevor furrow his brows tightly.
But upon seeing my pale face and gaunt body, he sighed again.
Then he spoke to me gently, "I know you're still hurt, but this is a gift for a girl. Deon might not like it either.”
“I'll send Deon lots of gifts over there as an apology, but this gift won't do."
Saying this, he put the gift back on himself.
I didn’t argue further, my heart feeling completely frozen.
After eight years of marriage, I had never truly understood this man.
Or perhaps I had never truly entered his heart.
The atmosphere grew silent for a moment, then I insisted on being discharged from the hospital.
I had made an appointment with Logan seven days later.
Even though my body hadn’t fully recovered, I had to keep my promise.
I could no longer tolerate Trevor and Shayne being so happy together.
Trevor looked at me with pity and said, "Sylvia, the Brandt Family isn't short on money. Why don't you stay here and take care of your health?"
I didn't respond, but insisted on getting out of bed.
Trevor could only sigh helplessly in the end.
"Alright, I'll take good care of you at home and make up for all the duties as a husband I failed to fulfill."
As he spoke, he leaned down to kiss my face.
Just as I was about to dodge, Trevor's phone rang.
Even though he turned off the screen quickly, I still saw the name on it.
It was Shayne calling.
Trevor looked a bit nervous, but after the phone kept ringing, he turned and walked toward the hospital room exit.
“Sylvia, wait for me. I’ll be back soon.”
I didn't say anything; I just quietly packed my things.
Sure enough, by the time we had agreed to leave the hospital, Trevor still hadn't shown up.
I managed to complete the discharge procedures despite the excruciating pain.
The doctors and nurses around me looked at me with sympathy.
Even from a distance, I could hear their whispered conversations.
“Look how cruel his husband is. He did not even come as she was in the operation room. Now he’s even making the patient handle the discharge procedures herself. Her wounds haven’t even healed yet—how pitiful.”
“You’re not the only one who thinks so. I just heard her husband speaking sweetly to his mistress on the phone. Oh my God, I wanted to tell her, but I was afraid she couldn’t handle the blow.”
I remained expressionless, pushing all those words out of my mind and stumbled out of the hospital.
Chapter 3
The moment I got home, I started packing my belongings.
Over the past eight years, all the gifts Trevor had given me, I took them all out.
There was only a pitiful little handful.
I threw all of these things into the trash without a second thought.
After gathering all the documents, I looked at the fake marriage certificate.
I lit the lighter without expression.
The flames slowly consumed the marriage certificate and the smiling faces of Trevor and me distorted in the heat.
Once everything was completely burned, my phone suddenly rang.
It was a message from Shayne!
Shayne sent dozens of photos of herself with Trevor.
In the photos, Trevor was smiling genuinely, looking incredibly gentle.
He was considerate and attentive toward Shayne.
He even let the little girl ride on his back like a horse!
But after Deon was born, Trevor rarely smiled at him.
Before, I only thought it was because Trevor had high standards for Deon.
Now I realize it was because I, as his mother, didn't win his favor. As a result, my son didn't receive any of his father's love either.
Thinking of my deceased son, my heart aches so much. It felt like it was bleeding.
After swiping away all the photos, I finally saw the recording at the bottom.
I closed my eyes tightly and clicked on it without hesitation.
A series of suggestive breaths echoed through the air.
The man’s sensual groans intertwined with the woman’s seductive whimpers.
I immediately recognized it as Trevor's voice.
Once everything had settled down, I heard Shayne's affected voice.
"Trevor, thank you. If you hadn't helped me find someone to take Sylvia's mother's place, I might have been arrested already."
I stared in disbelief.
My mother died in a car accident eight years ago.
Since my mother was the only family I had left, I was deeply depressed during that time.
To find the murderer of my mother, I spared no effort in searching for clues.
Just as I was about to uncover the truth, I was involved in a car accident and temporarily lost my vision.
Seeing my mother about to die unjustly, I felt utterly helpless.
At that moment, Trevor appeared by my side.
He was incredibly kind to me and in my moment of despair, I placed all my hopes in him.
He did not disappoint and eventually apprehended the driver who had killed my mother.
But now, Shayne was the one who killed my mother?
I stared in disbelief, but the recording played Trevor's voice.
"As long as you can be happy, I'll do anything. You didn't intentionally kill Sylvia's mother; she was the one who was too aggressive."
A tear slid down the corner of my eye, but the flames in my eyes burned even brighter.
Shayne was so moved she could barely speak, her voice choked with emotion. "If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have to live with Sylvia. We're supposed to be husband and wife, yet I feel like your secret lover.”
“Trevor, I'm truly heartbroken."
Trevor remained silent for a long time before finally embracing her.
'Sylvia's mother has passed away and I still need to make amends with her. I promise you that everything I own will be yours. You don't need to worry.'
As he spoke, they embraced each other tightly.
I shut off the recording without expression, but my hands trembled uncontrollably.
So, this marriage was a lie from the very beginning!
I retrieved all the design drafts I had previously authorized to Trevor's company, along with those documents.
I must take all of this to Logan.
I must accelerate the process of bankrupting the Brandt Family!
The sound of footsteps came from the bedroom door behind me.
I turned around and saw Trevor standing at the door.
Chapter 4
"Sylvia, why are you looking for these?"
Trevor’s face was filled with confusion.
I lowered my eyes, put all the documents away and said calmly, “Nothing, I’m just organizing some things.”
Trevor frowned after hearing this.
He was about to ask more, but the next second, his phone rang again.
I knew it was Shayne calling again.
Trevor glanced at me discreetly before finally stepping out to answer the call.
A few minutes later, he turned and walked toward the door.
I thought that day would end like this and was just about to throw away all this trash when the noise downstairs grew louder.
I peeked out and saw Trevor carefully bringing Shayne and the little girl inside.
Upon seeing me standing expressionlessly on the upper floor watching them, a fleeting look of discomfort crossed Trevor's face.
"Sylvia, this is my best friend's wife. Her daughter recently underwent heart surgery and needs frequent hospital check-ups, so she'll be staying with us for a while."
He actually dared to bring these two people right in front of me!
Did Trevor think I was an idiot?
Thinking this, I sneered, "If she's not feeling well, why not just have her stay in the hospital? Let the doctors monitor this sickly person around the clock—wouldn't that be better?"
Trevor's face flushed with anger. "Sylvia, she's just a child! How could you say that?"
Shayne glanced at me, tightened her grip on the little girl’s hand and pulled her to stand in front of me.
She spoke in what seemed like an apology but was actually a provocation, “Sylvia, I didn’t expect you two to argue because of me.”
“My daughter was lucky to receive a donation from a young boy; otherwise, she wouldn’t have survived. It’s just a pity that the little boy was only five years old when he died and his body wasn’t even intact.”
As she spoke, her gaze toward me was filled with sarcasm.
Hearing her dare to mention Deon, I couldn't hold back any longer and pushed her hard.
Shayne’s lips curled into a barely perceptible smile as she used my momentum to fall heavily to the ground.
"Argh!"
She looked at Trevor with tears in her eyes.
Trevor rushed forward and picked her up, looking at me with disappointment.
“Sylvia, I understand that Deon just died and you’re upset, but you shouldn’t take your anger out on others!”
“Today, whether you like it or not, she’s moving in. If you can’t stand it, you can leave!”
Trevor said, glaring coldly at me.
He had thought I would back down.
But I just stared back at him coldly.
"As you wish, I'll move out tomorrow. You can do whatever you want with the place."
After saying that, I slammed the door shut.
Soon, the sound of faint, scattered noises came from the room next door.
I realized then that Trevor had actually arranged for them—the mother and daughter—to stay in Deon’s room!
I couldn’t hold back any longer and burst out.
“Trevor, have you lost your mind? There are so many other rooms available—why did you arrange for them to stay in Deon’s room!” I shouted at Trevor, filled with anger.
Trevor didn't even glance at me.
“Aren’t you moving out tomorrow? So where I arrange for them to stay has nothing to do with you, right?”
Hearing this, I froze in place.
Then I forced a cold smile.
"Whatever you want."
Tomorrow, I would take Deon and all those belongings with me.
He did not love me and Deon anyway.
Chapter 5
The next day, I packed everything and prepared to leave.
Just as I was about to open the door to take my son’s belongings with me, the scene before me left me frozen in place.
The once cozy children's room was in complete disarray.
The snow-white walls were covered in crayon marks.
The toys I had bought for Deon over the years were scattered on the floor, torn to pieces.
The books that Deon had once loved were all torn to shreds.
The little girl, upon seeing my angry, flushed face, actually burst into laughter.
The next moment, she held up Deon's spirit tablet in front of me and then threw it forcefully onto the ground.
I was so enraged that I couldn't even move to pick up the spirit tablet.
The little girl jumped high into the air and began dancing on Deon's spirit tablet!
Even though the spirit tablet was made of wood, it couldn't withstand her heavy footsteps and cracked open.
I couldn't control myself anymore and shouted out loud, "You naughty girl!"
I rushed forward, shoving the little girl aside, then picked up the spirit tablet from the ground and held it tightly to my chest.
My son, who never enjoyed any blessings in life, now had to endure such humiliation even in death because of his parents.
The little girl was pushed into the wall.
She fell to the ground, sprawled out and after a moment of shock, she realized the pain and burst into tears.
“Mom!”
Shayne burst through the door and, upon seeing the red wounds on her daughter’s body, glared at me angrily, “Sylvia, you’ve gone too far!”
“Even if my daughter did something wrong, she just had surgery. How could you treat her like this?”
Trevor also entered from the doorway. Upon seeing the little girl wailing, his expression turned grim.
The next moment, he charged at me and slapped me hard across the face.
Both my hands were protecting the spirit tablet, leaving me unable to defend myself and I collided heavily with the sharp corner of the desk.
"Sylvia, how could you do such a cruel thing? You won't even spare a child!"
“If anything happens to Shayne, I’ll make you pay with your life!”
Saying this, he hurriedly picked up the little girl and turned to leave the room.
After a while, I managed to gather enough strength to try to get up.
The dimly lit room suddenly brightened as Trevor stood at the door, his icy gaze fixed on me.
"Sylvia, you really need a lesson."
After speaking, he ordered his bodyguards to drag me to the cold storage room.
I was powerless to resist and was thrown into the cold storage room.
Three days later, I was finally released by the bodyguards.
He coldly looked at me and said, "Mr. Brandt ordered this as a lesson for the lady. If there's a next time, he'll make you suffer tenfold."
I walked forward expressionlessly.
There would be no next time between me and Trevor.
The villa was empty. Not only was Trevor absent, but Shayne and her daughter were also gone.
After turning on my phone, I finally found out where they had gone.
During the three days I was locked in the cold storage, my mother-in-law had taken them on a trip.
She had posted a full ten updates on her social media.
She was extremely pleased with Shayne, even publicly comparing us in her social media posts to disparage us.
[My daughter-in-law should be like Shayne—graceful and virtuous—not like someone who doesn’t even act like a daughter-in-law, let alone a bringer of misfortune who has cursed my grandson to death.]
Looking at those words and the expensive jewelry my mother-in-law had given Shayne, I took off my wedding ring without a word.
My mother-in-law probably already knew that Shayne was the one she truly considered her daughter-in-law.
After all, even after all these years of marriage to Trevor, she never gave me a single piece of jewelry.
But it did not matter. I did not care anymore.
Soon the Brandt Family would go bankrupt and my mother-in-law wouldn’t have any money to buy jewelry in the future.
Chapter 6
Since Trevor and the others were not there, I decided to stay an extra day at the villa.
Tomorrow was the day I leave and not seeing them again was the best outcome.
But the next day, I was woken up by the noise downstairs.
When I went out to see what was happening, I found Shayne hosting a pool party with a group of people.
Upon seeing me, Shayne’s best friend gave me a mocking look.
“Shayne, this is the elegant sister you’ve been talking about? You said she was so beautiful, but now she looks like a crazy woman. She doesn’t even compare to you!”
Indeed, after suffering the loss of two children in quick succession, I now look utterly exhausted.
On the other hand, Shayne, nurtured by Trevor, radiated a vibrant glow.
I ignored these people and turned to pick up my luggage and leave.
Just then, Shayne stepped forward and blocked my path.
"Sylvia, don't take it to heart. I know you've been through a tough time lately because of Trevor's punishment. Since we're hosting a pool party—why don't you join us?"
As she spoke, she tightly grasped my hand.
Shayne's neck and hands were adorned with all the jewelry her mother-in-law had given her for this trip.
Seeing the defiance in her eyes, I knew she had only kept me there to show off.
I shook her hand off with all my strength and coldly said, “There’s nothing fun about hanging out with someone like you.”
With that, I turned to leave.
But just then, Shayne's best friend emerged from my room, dragging my luggage behind her.
"This Sylvia is packing her things to run away. I'm helping Shayne check if she's stolen anything. After all, our Shayne is the future mistress of the Brandt Family."
I stared in shock, but before I could stop her, she yanked open my suitcase.
Everything inside was clearly visible and there were no valuable items.
Shayne's best friend wasn't satisfied and rummaged through it again, eventually pulling out the ashes of Deon and my mother from the compartment.
I rushed forward to stop her, but was held back by Shayne, who was holding me tightly. I could only shout with red eyes, "Stop!"
Seeing how tense I was, Shayne's best friend actually opened the two boxes of ashes.
"You're so tense; there must be something valuable inside. Maybe it's some priceless jewelry."
As she spoke, greed flashed in Shayne's friend's eyes and she shamelessly dumped the two boxes of ashes onto the ground.
"Stop! Stop right now!" I shouted hoarsely.
Shayne's best friend rummaged through the ashes before finally believing there was nothing there.
She then puckered her lips and swept all the ashes into the swimming pool.
My mind went blank.
Shayne let go of me from behind and I stumbled over to try to collect the remaining ashes.
Shayne and her best friend exchanged glances, their eyes filled with malicious satisfaction.
Shayne wasn't satisfied and sneered, "Sorry, Sylvia, my friend just misunderstood. She didn't realize these were two boxes of ashes.”
“Forgive her, after all, both Deon and your mother are already dead. The living people are more important."
My eyes were red with tears and I turned to glare at her.
This murderer dared to come in front of me and do such things, I couldn't hold back any longer and charged forward with a furious shout.
Chapter 7
By the time I came to my senses, Shayne was already pinned down by me in the pool.
“You murderer! Apologize to my mother and Deon, you beast!”
Behind me, Shayne's best friend and friends were beating me up, trying to save her, but I didn't care.
Just as Shayne was about to stop struggling, Trevor appeared. He rushed forward and kicked me into the pool. He then frantically pulled Shayne out of the pool.
Upon realizing that Shayne had fainted, he glared at me with hatred.
"Sylvia, it seems the lesson I gave you earlier wasn't enough. How dare you do such a terrible thing to Shayne!"
"From now on, as long as Shayne doesn't say she'll spare you, you'll stay in this pool."
Saying this, he turned and left, still holding Shayne in his arms.
Shayne's close friends and companions all glared at me angrily.
I had no intention of paying attention to Trevor.
Trembling, I started crawling toward the edge of the pool.
The bodyguards were waiting nearby. As soon as I was about to climb out, they pushed me back into the pool without hesitation.
After several such incidents, I had no strength left and slid into the pool.
Half an hour later, they brought in a truckload of ice and threw it into the pool.
I was frozen stiff, my face pale, yet I still couldn’t climb out.
I spent the entire night curled up in the pool, freezing until I lost consciousness.
My body, which had not yet fully recovered, was further weakened.
It wasn’t until the next day that the bodyguards pulled me out of the pool while I was unconscious. I regained consciousness under the care of the butler.
The butler looked at me, sighed and his face was filled with pity.
“Madam, don’t argue with Mr. Brandt anymore. He was in love with you, but if you keep making him angry, you will only face this distress.”
“By the way...”
The butler seemed to have something on his mind.
Finally, he spoke up under my calm gaze.
“He said that you must go to the old mansion and kneel down to apologize to Ms. Hale. Only then will he allow you to continue as Mrs. Brandt. Otherwise...”
The butler didn't finish his sentence, but I knew what he meant.
I tugged at the corner of my mouth and took out a USB drive from the luggage.
“If Trevor comes looking for me, give this to him.”
After speaking, I glanced at my phone. The flight was about to depart soon.
I had to leave.
Before boarding, Shayne sent another message.
Apparently, Trevor was hosting a banquet at the old mansion that night to prove his identity.
If I went there to kneel and apologize to her, it would be at that banquet.
Through those words, I saw Shayne's smug expression.
Taking my boarding pass, I straightened my back and walked toward the plane with determined steps.
Shayne and Trevor were both the same—they thought I would compromise for love.
They thought I was a fool.
But they were wrong.
From the moment my two children died, I swore that I would use the flames of revenge to burn them to ashes!
